Puducherry Jan 28 PTI The union territory of Puducherry witnessed a spike in the number of fresh coronavirus cases as it reported 1271 infections in the last 24 hours a senior Health department official said on Friday The union territory had logged 940 cases on Thursday The 1271 fresh cases were identified at the end of the examination of 4714 samples and were spread over Puducherry 835 Karaikal 303 Yanam 121 and Mahe 12 Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release The overall tally climbed to 158969 The number of active cases stood at 14293 with 236 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 14057 were in home isolation Sriramulu said that five more patients four from Puducherry and one from Karaikal succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours pushing the toll to 1921 The deceased included a 80-year old woman The Department of Health has so far tested 2148805 samples and found 1803072 out of them to be negative The test positivity rate was 2696 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 121 per cent and 8980 per cent respectively The Director said the Health Department has so far administered 1529928 doses which comprised 919884 first doses 603316 second and 6728 booster doses PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Dec 28 PTI Puducherry clocked nine fresh COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 129434 a senior official of the Department of Health said on Tuesday No fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions for the ninth straight day and the death toll remained at 1880 Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release The nine new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 2265 samples and were spread over Puducherry two Karaikal four and Mahe three Yanam region an enclave in Andhra Pradesh did not report any fresh case of infection in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Tuesday the Director said The Health Department has so far tested 2041 074 samples and has found 1730197 out of them to be negative The number of active cases stood at 119 which included 38 patients in hospitals and 81 in home isolation he said While 16 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours the overall recoveries climbed to 127435 The test positivity rate was 040 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 145 per cent and 9846 per cent respectively The Health Department has so far administered 1381069 doses which comprised 829775 first doses and 551294 were second doses PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Dec 20 PTI The union territory of Puducherry logged 10 fresh coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 129325 a senior official of the Department of Health said on Monday No fresh fatalities were reported from the union territory in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday as the death toll remained at 1880 Director of the Health Department G Sriramulu said in a release here The 10 fresh cases were identified at the end of the examination of 831 samples and were spread over Puducherry and Karaikal regions four each and Mahe two cases Yanam an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh did not report any infection he said The number of active cases stood at 129 with 32 patients underdoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 97 in home isolation The Health department Director said as many as 32 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours while the total recoveries climbed to 127316 Sriramulu said the department has so far tested 2027046 specimens and has found 1717718 out of them to be negative The test positivity rate stood at 120 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 145 per cent and 9845 per cent respectively the Director said The Health department has so far administered 1345193 doses which comprised 8147148 first doses and 530445 were second doses PTI Cor SS SS
