New Delhi Mar 21 PTI Delhi Directorate of Education DoE has chalked out a two-phase plan to bridge competency gaps due to COVID-19 in students of Classes 3 to 9 from the commencement of the new session next month The new academic session in Delhi government schools will be starting from April 1 and it would be the first time that students will be attending the new session physically after a series of coronavirus lockdowns in the past two years the DoE said in a statement Director Education Himanshu Gupta conducted a meeting with all Deputy Directors of Education DDEs and Head of Schools HoSs of Delhi government schools and directed them to exclusively focus on emotional well-being and foundational skills in the first quarter of session 2022-23 for students of classes 3-9 The DoE has prepared a two-phase action plan to bridge the competency gap among the students according said the statement Explaining the rationale of the approach Gupta said the class-wise syllabus would be reduced to give opportunity to every child to not just rebuild their foundational competencies but also build conceptual clarity before taking up subject-wise topics Teachers will be specially trained to address learning-related issues of children in the new session and implement the two-phase plan in schools A weekly review will be conducted by the Director Education to assess the implementation of the plan the statement said The plan will include two hours class daily at Delhi government schools for Happiness Curriculum and numeracy and basic reading classes under Mission Buniyaad in new session A Mega PTM will be organized in the first week of April to apprise the parents about Mission Buniyaad and to ensure regular attendance of children In the meeting Director of Education Gupta Principal Advisor to Director Education Shailendra Sharma and Additional Director School Rita Sharma discussed the detailed action plan with HoSs and teachers Shailendra Sharma highlighted the need for teaching students according to the level where they are presently at rather than imposing the syllabus The focus in schools would be on basic reading writing and numeracy skills under Mission Buniyaad so that a strong foundation is laid for the students PTI SLB CK

New Delhi Feb 26 PTI In view of the reduction in coronavirus cases in Delhi teachers and other staff of the city governments education department who had been put on Covid duty have been asked to report back to their parent department on February 28 according to an official order issued on Saturday On Friday the Delhi Disaster Management Authority DDMA chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal had decided to withdraw all restrictions from Monday reduce the fine for not wearing masks from Rs 2000 to Rs 500 and resume physical classes in Delhi schools from April 1In view of the reduction in Covid cases and further relaxations in restrictions by the DDMA the services department has ordered to stand relieve forthwith all ad hoc DANICS Gr-I Gr-II Gr-III Gr-IV DASS officersofficials who have been deployed by services department or substituted by administration departments for COVID-19-related duties in various departments of the Delhi government the order saidIn view of the above the competent authority is pleased to direct all teachers IT assistants and DEOs of Directorate of Education DoE who have been deployed on Covid duty in revenue department or are still working on Covid duty in revenue department to report back on February 28 to their parent school or branch of DoE where they were physically posted without waiting for any formal relieving from their present place of deployment it saidThe order issued by the DoE also said that appropriate action will be taken if they dont report back on regular dutyThoseteachers IT assistants and DEOs who are deployed in DDMA HQ will continue to work there till further orders it said PTI KND TIR TIR

Private schools in Delhi release second list for admission to entry-level classes

New Delhi Feb 21 PTI Private schools in Delhi on Monday released the second list for admission to entry-level classes -- nursery KG and class-1 The process for nursery admissions in over 1800 schools in the national capital began on December 15 last year bringing respite for anxious parents who have been waiting for the notification for over two months The schools had put out their first list on February 4 using the point-based criteria announced by them earlier The students who have been shortlisted in the second list have to take admission between February 22 to 28 a senior official of the Directorate of Education DoE said All private unaided recognised schools were directed that they shall develop and adopt criteria for admission which shall be fair reasonable well-defined equitable non-discriminatory unambiguous and transparent he said The official said The subsequent list for admission if any will be released on March 15 The entire admission process will conclude on March 31 The DoE has also directed that the number of seats at the entry-level shall not be less than the highest number of seats in entry-level classes during the last three academic years -- 2019-20 2020-21 and 2021-22 According to norms all private unaided recognised schools admitting children in pre-school pre-primary and class-l level shall reserve 25 per cent seats for EWS or DG category students and children with disability A monitoring committee has been constituted in each district under the chairmanship of the Deputy Director District concerned regarding the admission process The deputy director has been asked to ensure that each private school uploads the criteria and its points on the online module and further ensure that the school shall not adopt those criteria which were abolished by the department and upheld by the Delhi High Court PTI GJS GJS AQS AQS
