New Delhi Nov 26 PTI Over 7200 votes were polled on Friday for the Delhi University Teachers Association DUTA electionsThe Democratic Teachers Front DTF has been winning the elections for the last five terms The issue of absorption of teachers is on the agenda of all those in the frayAccording to officials 7213 votes were polled on Friday The counting commenced at 530 pmThis time the ad-hoc teachers have formed the Ad hoc Teachers Front and they will be represented by Shabana Azmi an ad-hoc political science teacher in Zakir Husain College for the DUTA presidents postThe Democratic Teachers Front has fielded Abha Dev Habib for the post of DUTA president and Jitendra Kumar Meena Nandita Narain Rudrashish Chakraborty and V S Dixit for DUTA executiveThe right-wing National Democratic Teachers Front NDTF has fielded last years runner-up A K Bhagi as its presidential candidate Bhagi had lost to DTF candidate and the current DUTA president Rajib Ray by a slim margin in the last electionThe Aam Aadmi Party teachers wing -- Delhi Teachers Association DTA -- is also in the fray and has fielded its president Hansraj Suman as a candidate for the DUTA executiveThe Academics For Action and Development AAD has fielded Dr Prem Chand for the presidents post and Dr Amit Singh Anand Prakash Anju Jain and Jainendra Mishra for DUTA executive and their demand too is one time regulation for absorption of ad-hoc teachers PTI SLB RHL

New Delhi Oct 20PTI Delhi University Teachers Association members on Wednesday met the varsitys vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh and submitted a memorandum of demands including absorption of ad-hoc and temporary teachers into regular servicesThe memorandum also highlighted issues of repeated stoppage of grants by the Delhi government and the crisis faced by employees due to non-receipt of salaries problems of teachers of physical education vacant positions of librarians in around 30 colleges promotion of teachers health infrastructure and benefits to all employees the members said in a statementThe teachers also raised problems related to the teaching-learning process in context of online teaching it addedBearers also communicated to the vice-chancellor the need to strengthen the administrative and financial functioning of the University the statement said PTI SLB ANB ANB

New Delhi Aug 24 PTI The Delhi University Teachers Association DUTA on Tuesday held a protest against the implementation of the New Education Policy in the varsityThey protested outside the vice-chancellors office where the Academic Council meeting was underway to discuss the implementation of the policyThe Standing Committee on Academic Matters in its meeting held on Monday approved the implementation of the policy from 2022-23 the four-year undergraduate programme and multiple entry and exit options for students The committee however deferred discussion on the implementation of the Massive Open Online Courses MOOCThe recommendations of the Standing Committee are being discussed in the Academic Council meetingThe DUTA wrote to acting Vice Chancellor PC Joshi on Monday torequest that these matters be first discussed at all statutory levels such as DepartmentsFaculties and Staff Councils before being placed in the Academic Council Such widespread discussions would enable the University to not take hasty steps towards implementation of the provisions of NEP 2020 and other regulations It would do well for the University to remember the disastrous implementation of the FYUP in 2013 and its subsequent withdrawal in 2014 after widespread protests by all stakeholders the letter said The DUTA in a statement had said that the experience of the four year undergraduate programme FYUP in 2013 had shown that students rejected the idea of additional expenditure for the fourth year Survey amongst students carried in 2013 showed that students were spending close to Rs 15-2 lakh per year in staying in Delhi to receive education Students rejected the idea of FYUP because of the dilution of the first two years of FYUP We see that the new model once again packs first two semesters with lukewarm courses it had said on Monday PTI SLB DV DV
