New Delhi Dec 28 PTI East Delhi Mayor Shyam Sunder Aggarwal on Tuesday shared the latest details on the financial condition of the cash-strapped EDMC and alleged that the corporation is facing adverse economic conditions as the Delhi government has not released due funds Aggarwal Chairman of the EDMCs Standing Committee Beer Singh Panwar and Leader of the House Satyapal Singh presented the latest figures of the financial condition of the East Delhi Municipal Corporation in a press conference held at the corporation headquarters here Aggarwal alleged that the corporation was facing adverse economic conditions as the Delhi government has not released funds which he claimed was due to the EDMC Presenting the figures Aggarwal said In the year 2020-21 the corporation had a balance of Rs 300 cr in April 2021 As on December 27 2021 the corporation has got Rs 128628 cr as revenue In total Rs 158628 cr was with the corporation out of which we spent Rs 149476 cr on giving salaries and other items Out of the total Rs 128628 crore Delhi government has given Rs 78043 crore under the salary and plan scheme he claimed The BJP-led East Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday had passed a resolution to condemn remarks made recently by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with release of civic funds which it has claimed is due to the corporation from the city government The three corporations have been claiming that Delhi government owes them several crores of funds and East Delhi mayor Aggarwal a few days had marched in the streets from Nirman Vihar to Delhi Secretariat to put forth his demand PTI KND AQS AQS

New Delhi Nov 30 PTI A project to upskill street food vendors of east Delhi so as to make them eligible for e-cart licence was launched on Tuesday the civic body said The project is an initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in association with the East Delhi Municipal Corporation It was launchedby Rajeev Chandrasekhar Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship MSDE and Ministry of Electronics and IT the EDMC said in a statement The initiative seeks to formalise the unorganised sector and upskill the street food vendors About2500 vendors are to be targeted in its pilot phase officials said It also seeks to find potential candidates for getting e-cart licences and improving the hygiene conditions in food preparation and aesthetics of vending the EDMC said India has lakhs of street food vendors and they also contribute to the informal economy and it highlights the important role played by them in Indias economy the minister said Due to Prime Minister Narendra Modis vision India is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Indias rich heritageChandrasekhar said This is the first time schemes like SVANidhi andRecognition of Prior LearningRPL training for street food vendors have been introduced especially after the COVID-19 as retail and street vending segments were hugely impacted he was quoted as saying in the statement I would also like to highlight that the conduct and well-being of street food vendors define how their respective cities are perceived therefore their upskilling is an imperative he added The initiative will be implemented under the RPL component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana PMKVY 30 The objective of this programme is to provide relevant skills to the street food vendors leading towards better services for consumers more opportunities for vendors for revenue generation awareness on regulations and stipulated rules in return providing better services to the local bodies the EDMC said East Delhi MayorShyam Sunder Aggarwal chairman of EDMCs Standing Committee Beer Singh Panwar BJP national Spokesperson R P Singh Secretary MSDE Rajesh Aggarwal EDMC Commissioner Vikas Anand several councillors among others attended the occasion We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision on empowering Indias workforce with skills His focus on improving the conditions of street good vendors will surely help them lift their working and living conditions By upskilling the vendors and providing them with loans to potential candidates for accessing e-cart licenses under this initiative we will ensure that no vendor is left job less Aggarwal said The EDMC and the National Skill Devellopment Corporation NSDC will provide necessary knowledge and skills to street food vendors through this programme to increase productivity and enhance their livelihood officials said EDMC-NSDC will ensure that candidates complete the training of 32 hours and spend about eight hours a day on training Customised monitoring and evaluation enhancements visits verification of previous skills and eligibility ascertained by an initial screening e-verification calls and face detection for attendance will also be performed the statement said PTI KND CK
New Delhi Sep 18 PTI The East Delhi Municipal Corporation has floated a policy to allow use of open-air spaces and terraces abutting licensed eateries as service area subject to several conditions officials said The policy has been introduced with anticipatory approval of the EDMCs standing committee the panels head Beer Singh Panwar said According to the policy only open-air spaces or terrace abutting licensed eating joints will be allowed to be used as a service area for dining purposes only but subject to several conditions he said One condition is that only open-air spaces will be allowed and the area should not have any overhead temporary or permanent structure No cooking of any kind or preparation of foods will be allowed in an open-air space or terrace and liquor cannot be served in that zone Panwar said The EDMC policy will be in compliance with the rental agreement if the landlord and restaurant owners are different he said A No Objection Certificate NOC from the owner of the land shall have to be procured for using the open-air space or terrace for service purposes only the EDMC said It will also be mandatory for restaurant-owners to obtain an NOC from the Delhi Fire Service authorities as per the policy A list of about 20 conditions are there as part of the policy Panwar said adding the proposal is expected to come up in the upcoming EDMC panel meeting The EDMC has received some representation from a restaurant body in this connection he said It will also augment our revenues the EDMC panel chief said adding there are about 50 big restaurants in east Delhi In September 2020 the standing committee of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation had approved a similar proposal PTI KND SMN SMN
