Jammu Mar 20 PTI Farooq Khan an advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha submitted his resignation on Sunday evening officials said here Khan a retired IPS officer who was instrumental in curbing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir in the 1990s is being given important assignment in the BJP the officials said He is likely to be assigned the responsibility of preparing the party for assembly elections in the union territory He had earlier served as a national secretary of the BJP and held various posts in the partys minority cell Though the poll schedule has not been announced yet the officials expect that the elections will be held after October following completion of the ongoing delimitation exercise by May PTI SKL SMN SMN

Jammu Feb 28 PTI Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governors adviser Farooq Khan on Monday asked deputy commissioners to expedite the process of operationalisation of Eklavya Model Residential Schools EMRS before AprilHe said the government is committed to provide state-of-the-art facilities for tribal children through the EMRS wherein the best teaching staff and infrastructure would be available for these children residing in remote areasKhan made the remarks while chairing a meeting to consider and give approval for the establishment of new EMRS and the operationalisation of approved onesSenior officers of various departments including Tribal Affairs Secretary Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary and deputy commissioners of both divisions of Kashmir and Jammu attended the meeting an official spokesperson saidThe deputy commissioners gave suggestions with respect to the EMRS to be submitted for recommendation to the government of India in two phases 10 in phase-I and eight in phase-IIKhan asked the deputy commissioners to expedite the process of operationalisation of EMRS before April so that the facilities would be dedicated to the people in set timeHe also asked them to identify suitable chunks of land in districts for EMRS with easy access and scope for future expansions PTI TAS AB IJT

Jammu Feb 25 PTI The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday approved setting up of infrastructure for women battalions at several places in the union territory officials said The Administrative Council AC which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha accorded administrative approval for construction work for women battalions at Sopore Baramulla and Pargalta Jammu an official spokesman said Farooq Khan and Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar advisors to the Lt Governor Arun Kumar Mehta Chief Secretary and Nitishwar Kumar Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor attended the meeting he said The construction work will be carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore at each battalion and it will include administration blocks residential accommodation and hostels and office building among others the spokesman said Earlier to check the rise in crime against women the administration had raised two women battalions by sanctioning 2014 posts for recruiting women officers and officials of various ranks he said The recruitment of these posts is underway he added PTI AB AQS AQS

Jammu Dec 16 PTI The Administrative Council AC has approved the change of land use from agricultural to non-agricultural purposes in Jammu and Kashmir an official spokesman said on Thursday The AC which met here under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha approved the regulations framed by the board of revenue for conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes he said These regulations were necessitated after the legislative changes in the land revenue act post reorganisation of the erstwhile state the spokesman said Farooq Khan and Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar advisors to the Lt Governor Dr Arun Kumar Mehta Chief Secretary J-K and Nitishwar Kumar Principal Secretary to LG attended the meeting he said The new guidelines have been issued to regulate the uncontrolled conversion of agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes on the one hand and keep the developmental aspirations of the UT and the people on the other hand the spokesman said Under the new regulations the district collector has been empowered to grant permission to the change in land use from agricultural to non-agricultural purposes in accordance with the procedure as to be notified by the board of revenue he said The powers have been delegated to the district collector to grant permission for land up to 12 standard acres against a fee of five percent of the market value of the land notified under the stamps act he added However the regulations provide an exemption from seeking permission in cases of conversion of land for construction of residential houses or farm-related buildings and storages with a ceiling of 400 square metres the spokesman said The decision is aimed at ensuring production of sufficient quantity of food grains besides promoting orderly growth of industrial and services sector in the Union territory and creation of employment he said PTI AB AQS AQS
