The BJP has won 156 seats of 182 assembly seats in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, smashing all previous records of electoral performance. The Congress won 40 seats in the 68-member assembly riding on anti-incumbency.
Referring to Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was overcome with a lot of emotions seeing the phenomenal election results. The Prime Minister also thanked the people of Himachal Pradesh for their affection and support for BJP.
The BJP is poised to break all records of electoral performance in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, and is set to get the highest number of seats won by a political party in the state's history.
