At least three persons, including a child, were killed and two others injured after they were attacked by a herd of wild elephants in Assam's Goalpara district on Thursday, said Dhruba Dutta, the forest range officer of Lakhipur.
An elephant died of electrocution after coming in contact with an electric wire in Assam's Morigaon district on Saturday night, the officials informed.

Earlier on Thursday, a wild elephant was found dead in a paddy field at Joyramkuchi area under Lakhipur forest range in Assam's Goalpara district. Last month a wild elephant was found dead in a paddy field at Kankata area in Goalpara district.
According to the reports, locals spotted the carcass of an elephant in a paddy field in the Joyramkuchi area under the Lakhipur forest range in the lower Assam district and informed local forest officials.
The police safely rescued a minor boy and a taxi driver Bikas Chetia who had been kidnapped from Assam's Goalpara and Meghalaya's Tikrikilla on November 9 and 4 respectively, West Garo Hills district Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore said.
