Hyderabad Sep 28 PTI Telangana on Tuesday logged 220 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the overall tally to 665504 while the toll rose to 3915 with one more fatality The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation GHMC accounted for the most number of cases with 80 followed by Karimnagar 21 and Khammam 13 districts a state government bulletin said providing details as of 530 PM Recoveries outnumbered fresh cases with 255 people recuperating from the infectious disease taking the cumulative number to 657040 so far Active cases stood at 4549 the bulletin said It said 44200 samples were tested on Tuesday taking the total number of specimens examined till date to 26280662 The samples tested per million population was 706089 The Case Fatality Rate in the state was 058 per cent while it was 13 per cent at the national level the bulletin said The recovery rate in Telangana was 9872 per cent while it was 9778 per cent in the country PTI SJR APR APR

Hyderabad Sep 23 PTI A 54-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered in Nalgonda district and two persons were arrested in connection with the incident police said on Thursday According to a senior police official a 40-year-old man raped the woman at his house in Mushampally village and later he along with his associate allegedly murdered the woman by banging her head against the wall at around noon on Wednesday Both the accused were in drunken condition when the incident happened the official said The woman was on her way to her grocery shop when she went inside the compound of the prime accuseds house to pluck some flowers Nalgonda district superintendent of police A V Ranganath told PTI The man pulled the woman inside his house and later raped her police said adding he later murdered her with the support of his accomplice After some time the second accused came out of the house and informed the matter to the brother-in-law of the deceased who after reaching the spot found the woman in pool of blood with the prime accused standing beside the body police said Some villagers thrashed the duo after coming to know about the incident and later handed them over to police the official said On Wednesday some villagers held a dharna in Nalgonda town demanding justice and the police assured them of speedy trial through a fast track court PTI VVK BN BN

Hyderabad Sep 23 PTI A housekeeping worker at a restaurant here was apprehended after he allegedly placed a camera phone in the womens washroom police said on Thursday According to a police official a 25-year-old woman along with her friends had gone to the restaurant in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday When the woman went to the washroom she noticed a camera inside The woman brought the matter to the notice of the management and also complained to police the official said A police team went to the eatery and after investigation it was found that a housekeeping worker who is a minor had kept the camera inside the washroom he said The phones camera was found switched on and it was recording police said A case was registered and the minor has been apprehended and the seized cell phone was being sent to forensic science laboratory FSL for examination police said The restaurant management and the owner will also be booked and they will be arrested the official added PTI VVK BN BN
Hyderabad Sep 21 PTI The Telangana government has issued an order providing certain percentages of reservation to Gouds SCs and STs in the allotment of A4 retail liquor shops for the licence period 2021-23 According to the Government Order GO dated September 20 Gouds have been allotted 15 per cent quota SCs and STs have been allotted 10 per cent and five per cent respectively The allotment has been made as per a recent decision taken by the state cabinet for the benefit of the Goud SC and ST communities PTI SJR SS SS
