Indore Jan 21 PTI A mega plant established in Indore in Madhya Pradesh will be operational in 15-20 days and start producing bio-CNG from 550 tonnes of liquid waste generated every day in the city Indore Municipal Corporation IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal said on Friday Touted as the largest such facility in Asia by local civic officials the plant will produce 18000 kilograms of bio-CNG which will be used to power IMCs transport buses as well as a large quantity of compost Testing of machinery at the bio-CNG plant has been completed We are hoping to start production with full capacity in the next 15-20 days Pal told reporters It has been established over a 15-acre trenching ground in Devguradia area at an investment of Rs 150 crore with the IMC not having to spend a single rupee on the plant and the private firm paying the civic body Rs 25 crore per year in lieu of liquid waste As per the agreement with the firm bio-CNG will be made available to the IMC at Rs 5 less than prevailing market rates for green gas officials informed The city has a population of 35 lakh and facilities have been created for safe disposal of 600 tonnes each of dry and liquid waste they said adding that Indore which has been named Indias cleanest city in the Centres Swachh Survekshan works on a 3R model of reduce-reuse-recycle PTI HWP MAS BNM BNM BNM
New Delhi Nov 30 PTI The government will soon bring in a new Bill on cryptocurrency after it is approved by the Union Cabinet said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday in the Rajya Sabha A Bill on Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency for introduction in the Lok Sabha has been included in the Lok Sabha Bulletin-Part II as part of the government business expected to be taken up during the ongoing winter session The Bill seeks to create a facilitative framework for the creation of the official digital currency to be issued by the Reserve Bank of India RBI for the ongoing winter session of Parliament It also seeks to prohibit all private cryptocurrencies in India however it allows for certain exceptions to promote the underlying technology of cryptocurrency and its uses Replying to a series of questions in the Rajya Sabha Sitharaman said This Bill once the Cabinet clears will come into the house The government had also listed a similar Bill for the last Parliament session monsoon but it was not taken up The earlier attempt was definitely to come up with a Bill that the house can consider But later because rapidly a lot of things had to come into play we had started working on a new Bill This is the Bill that is now being proposed she said adding that there was a genuine attempt to bring the Bill even during the monsoon session The minister informed the house that the proposed legislation is likely to be introduced soon On asked if the government proposes to ban misleading advertisements in media she said the guidelines of Advertising Standards Council of India are being studied and their regulations are also being looked into so that we can take if necessary some kind of position or a decision to see how we can handle it The minister also said cryptocurrencies are unregulated in India and the government does not collect data on transactions in cryptocurrency Sitharaman also said the government RBI and Sebi have been cautioning people about the cryptocurrencies that could be a high risk area and more can be done to create awareness A study was conducted by the government through a research firm on Virtual Currencies An Analysis of the Legal Framework and Recommendations for Regulation in July 2017 Thereafter the government constituted an interministerial committee IMC in November 2017 under the chairmanship of the secretary economic affairs to study the issues related to virtual currencies and propose specific action to be taken in this matter The committee inter-alia recommended that all private cryptocurrencies be prohibited in India The panel also recommended that it would be advisable to have an open mind regarding the introduction of an official digital currency in India PTI MJH NKD HRS hrs
Indore Nov 17 PTI Nearly 300 city buses will run on Bio-CNG produced at a wet waste management plant in Madhya Pradeshs Indore city an official said on Wednesday The 550-tonne per day capacity plant was set up in the city with public participation and will become functional soon the official said This is a first-of-its kind plant in the country which is based on the concept of earning from waste and is a classic example of the circular economy Indore Municipal Corporation IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal told reporters Indore BJP Lok Sabha MP Shankar Lalwani and Pal inspected the plant and hoped that the production of Bio-CNG will soon begin at the facility Bio-CNG and a small quantity of compost manure will be produced every day with 550 tonne wet waste she said Nearly 300 city buses will run on the Bio-CNG produced at the plant which will not only conserve the environment but also bring down the fuel cost Pal said The plant is established by a private company which will pay an annual premium of more than Rs 15 crore to the civic body for the supply of wet waste she said As per the agreement the company will supply Bio-CNG to the IMC at Rs 5 less than the market rate Pal said According to a rough estimate nearly 1200 tonnes of waste including 600 wet and 600 dry waste is disposed of in the city which has an estimated population of 35 lakh In the last four Swacchta surveys of the Central government Indore has remained on top and the city is expecting to retain its position when the result of the 2021 survey is announced on November 20 PTI HWP MAS ARU ARU
Indore Oct 28 PTI The Economic Offences Wing EOW of the police on Thursday raided the properties of a clerk posted with the civic body in Madhya Pradeshs Indore city in connection with a case of disproportionate assets an official said Based on a complaint the raids were conducted at the house and two other properties of Rajkumar Salve 50 a clerk with the accounts department of the Indore Municipal Corporation EOW superintendent of police SP Dhananjay Shah said Officials allegedly found gold and silver jewellery along with documents related to investments running into lakhs of rupees during raids he said We have also found out about a three-storey house a flat and two immovable properties of Salve during the searches the SP said Salve had joined the IMC as a casual staffer in 1997 and was regularised permanent staffer in 2016 he said In 24 years of duty the accused had earned Rs 26 lakh in salary while the raids suggest that he owns movable and immovable properties worth Rs 15 crore Shah said Salve has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further probe is underway he added PTI HWP LAL ARU ARU
