J-K LG reviews Covid situation says tough measures needed

Jammu Dec 17 PTI Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday reviewed the coronavirus situation of the union territory and directed officials to ensure that everyone follows Covid-appropriate behaviour During meetings with officials he said tough measures are required to be taken due to a surge in cases of new variant Omicron worldwide Sinha asked the district administrations to carry out analysis of the Covid trend and identify reasons for the surge in cases to deploy effective strategies He stressed on optimal utilisation of RTPCR tests and accelerate vaccination drive JK administrations aim is to provide the best medical care to everyone without any strain on their finances he said PTI AB RDK RDK

Jammu Dec 17 PTI NITI Aayog Member V K Saraswat on Friday termed the performance of Jammu and Kashmir on all developmental indicators over the last two years as significant and urged the government functionaries to keep up with their work for further improving the lives of the people He reviewed the progress made by Jammu and Kashmir on various growth and development indicators over the last two years in a meeting with the chief secretary and the administrative secretaries of the administration as well as the senior officers of the central ministries and NITI AayogSaraswat said Strong districts and blocks will strengthen the states which in turn will support the nation to grow strong and prosperous The focus of the developmental initiatives therefore has to be on the districts and blocks He stated the NITI Aayogs developmental policy push is in line with Sabka Sath SabkaVikas SabkaVishwas and SabkaPrayas mantra of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove developmental deficits and income inequalities in the countryThe prime minister has identified agriculture and industry sectors as two important drivers of pushing GDP growth in the country and therefore focussed attention has to be trained on these sectors for improving productivity wages prospects and income in these sectors the NITI Aayog member pointed outThe chief secretary stated that Jammu and Kashmir has followed a whole of government approach in improving transparency increasing enforcement institutional deepening and importantly in building the trust of the people PTI AB NSD NSD

Ladakh gets its first forensic science lab

Jammu Dec 17 PTI The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the establishment of the first forensic science laboratory FSL in Ladakh officials said on FridayForensic examinations and reports play an important role in investigations as well as trials The forensic science laboratory in Ladakh will provide an unbiased scientific opinion on different types of evidential material referred to them by the investigating agencies and in turn help the judiciary they saidIn the absence of such a laboratory in Ladakh specimens had to be sent outside the union territory which affected investigations especially when the specimens were perishables like human viscera the officials saidThe FSL Ladakh will be a multidisciplinary forensic laboratory capable of examination and analysis of biological chemical print and documentary evidence they saidThe establishment of the forensic science laboratory unit in Ladakh will go a long way in giving better strong and reliable evidence in the court of law and will also act as a deterrent to possible crimes in the future PTI AB IJT
