Jammu Apr 20 PTI Asserting that the mercury may rise up to 47 degrees Celsius here this summer Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner Avny Lavasa on Wednesday appealed to the people to keep water bowls for stray animals to help them beat the heat Lavasa said the scorching heat is not only taking a toll on humans but also affecting stray animals cattle and birds Every year a number of animals and birds die of heat stroke and one major reason behind their untimely death is lack of access to drinking water she said We can save these animals and birds from the plight of summer months by putting a bowl of water outside our homes at prominent places and offices the JMC commissioner said Lavasa further pointed out that lack of water induces aggressive behaviour in animals and putting water bowls outside homes and offices can keep them in check She appealed to the people to let humanity prevail in these tough times by caring for these voiceless creatures The winter capital Jammu recorded the seasons hottest day on April 11 at 396 degrees Celsius which was 75 notches above normal PTI AB NB CK CK

Jammu Feb 18 PTI Under the smart city project Jammu will soon have an integrated command and control centre an intelligent traffic management system and a web-GIS based e-bill pay for civic services officials saidDivisional Commissioner of Jammu Raghav Langer who is also the chairman of the board of directors Jammu smart city limited JSCL on Friday reviewed the progress and implementation of projects awarded to the Bharat Electronics Limited and JaKeGaJSCL has signed a contract agreement with Bharat Electronics Limited for setting up the integrated command and control centre for Jammu city for Rs 53 crore officials saidIt will integrate all civic and essential services on a single platform to facilitate monitoring and addressing public issues in real-time they saidThe project will help in establishing a collaborative framework where input from different functional departments of Jammu Municipal Corporation and other stakeholders can be assimilated and analysed on a single platform resulting in aggregated city-level informationThe command centre will be one place from where traffic CCTV water and other services would be integrated into a single command room officials saidThe intelligent traffic management system will detect black-listed vehicles automatic number plate recognition red light and speed limit violation triple riding detection no-helmet detection among othersOf the 64 junctions of Jammu city the BEL team has selected 44 junctions for implementation of the project in the first phase officials said PTI AB NSD NSD
