New Delhi Nov 24 PTI The DDA will offer nearly 15000 flats in its new housing scheme officials said on Wednesday The flats of different categories located at Dwarka Narela Rohini and Jasola among other places will be offered under this scheme and are those which remained unsold in previous housing schemes of the urban body the DDA said in a statement The decision was taken during an online meeting of the authority of the DDA held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Lt Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal also the chairman of the DDA officials said The authority has approved launching of a special housing scheme for approximately 15000 flats they said The DDA said it will soon share further details of the scheme on its website and in leading newspapers and on social media Also the flats are being offered at the old rates or cost in relaxation of the costing policy of DDA which is updated every financial year based on the appreciation or depreciation of land cost or building as the case may be it said in a statement The flats at Narela sub-city are being offered after taking several remedial measures in terms of improvement of infrastructure security and connectivity on the basis of suggestions feedback of the allottees residents of the area it said The allottees will be eligible for subsidy under PMAY scheme of the central government If they avail home loan from a bank or financial institution the statement said The entire process from application to allotment and possession is being done through online mode officials said The Delhi Development Authority DDA on March 10 had allotted 1353 flats to people under its housing scheme 2021 through a draw of lots streamed online Out of these 689 flats were surrendered by allottees nearly 50 per cent of the total inventory under the scheme with COVID-19 and other factors being attributed by officials for such a larger number of flats being given up In late August the DDA had held a draw for 689 flats under the 2021 Housing Scheme surrendered by allottees with a meagre 79 waitlisted applicants being allotted units from this lot Among the other decisions approved by the authority included amendment in the DDA policy to mitigate risks of prospective bidders for upcoming in-situ rehabilitation projects and fixation of pre-determined rates PDRs for allotment of land to transport traders at IFC Holambi Kalan Narela According to the provision of Master Plan of Delhi-2021 warehouses of transport traders existing in the Walled City and special areas are required to be shifted to Integrated Freight Complex at Holambi Kalan Narela where goods booking and transport agencies offices are permitted activity officials said This proposal will now be sent to Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for final approval and notification and will kickstart the process of allotment of plots to transport traders According to the LOP each eligible transport trader will be allotted a 50 square metre plot with a floor area ratio FAR of 250 the DDA said PTI KND RHL

New Delhi Nov 22 PTI A 42-year-old woman and her young son were killed on Monday when a speeding car hit them while they were crossing a road in southeast Delhis Sarita Vihar area police said According to police at 1247 pm they received information regarding an accident at Sarita Vihar opposite the Asia Pacific Mall They rushed to the spot and found an i10 Grand car that had been in an accident they said Two injured Rahela and her eight-year-old son Elamul Husain residents of Jasola village were rushed to the Apollo Hospital where they were declared brought dead a senior police officer said The woman along with her son and daughter were crossing the road when the accident occurred Her daughter escaped unhurt police said A case has been registered under sections 279 rash driving and 304A causing death by negligence of the Indian Penal Code at Sarita Vihar police station and investigation taken up the officer said During investigation they found that the accident was a result of rash and negligent driving by 26-year-old Nishkarsh Saxena He has been arrested police said Saxena was not under any influence of drugs or psychotropic substances they said The husband of the deceased works as a caretaker in a local mosque The couple had three sons and a daughter One son died on Monday and the other two had died earlier due to jaundice police added PTI NIT AAR

New Delhi Nov 17 PTI A bike-borne man allegedly snatched two mobiles from two people -- the separate incidents taking place in 10 minutes of each other -- at Connaught Place in the heart of the national capital Police said they arrested the accused identified as the 21-year-old Arpan Christ on Wednesday He was previously involved in 20 criminal cases and declared a Bad Character by the Sunlight Colony police station they added Both the snatching incidents took place on Tuesday and the accused was identified based on a CCTV footage and arrested later using technical surveillance police said A CCTV footage of one of these incidents showed him snatching away the mobile phone of a 35-year-old woman while she was standing on the roadside in the Outer Circle of the Connaught Place they said In another incident a few metres away from the first spot he allegedly snatched the mobile phone from a man while he was using the device but no footage of the incident could be recovered police said Before committing the two incidents at Connaught Place he had also snatched mobile phones from Amar Colony in southeast Delhi in the morning they added According to police two separate FIRs were registered in connection with the incidents and during investigation based on the CCTV footage the registration number of the bike used by the accused was identified and the records obtained from the transport authority showed that the motorcycle belonged to Aryan Wilson a resident of Ashram here When Wilson was questioned he disclosed that he was previously involved in a crime and was arrested by Sunlight Colony police station He also told police that his accomplice Arpan Christ used his motorcycle in committing the offence said Deepak Yadav Deputy Commissioner of Police New Delhi Accused Christ earlier worked at a pub-cum-restaurant at Connaught Place and was familiar with the topography of the place he said The accused was traced and arrested from Jasola in Sarita Vihar police said adding three snatched mobile phones have been recovered from him so far The motorcycle used in the offence has also been recovered and efforts are on to recover other mobile phones snatched by him they said PTI AMP CK
