Dehradun Feb 18 PTI Dasna temple head priest Yati Narasinghanand who was arrested in January in connection with the Haridwar Dharma Sansad hate speech against Muslims and other cases has been released from jail Immediately after walking out of the Haridwar district jail on Thursday Narsinghanand proceeded to Sarvanand ghat to resume his hunger strike demanding the release of co-accused in the case Jitendra Narayan Tyagi formerly known as Waseem Rizvi Narsinghanands release follows bail granted to him on Tuesday by a local court in a case slapped on him under section 509 of the Indian Penal Code for making objectionable remarks against women and abusing a journalist Though granted bail in the Dharma Sansad case on February 7 Narsinghanand was still in jail due to the other cases in which the same court granted him bail on Tuesday The Hindutva leader had organised a conclave in Haridwar in December last year where several speakers delivered hate speeches against Muslims Talking to reporters after coming out of jail Narsinghanand said his release without that of Tyagi did not mean anything and he was going to resume his hunger strike at the Sarvanand ghat in Haridwar He said the protest will continue till Tyagi is released Tyagis bail application will be heard by the Uttarakhand High Court on February 21 Rizvi a former Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman had adopted the name of Jitendra Narayan Tyagi after converting to Hinduism PTI ALM AQS AQS

New Delhi Dec 27 PTI Seventy-six lawyers have written to Chief Justice N V Ramana requesting him to take suo motu cognisance of hate speeches allegedly made at separate events organised in Delhi and HaridwarThe letter alleged that the speeches delivered during the events were not mere hate speeches but amounted to an open call for murder of an entire communityThe said speeches thus pose a grave threat not just to the unity and integrity of our country but also endanger the lives of millions of Muslim citizens the letter saidIt is also pointed out that the recent speeches are a part of a series of similar speeches that we have come across in the past Thus urgent judicial intervention is required to prevent such events that seem to have become the order of the day it readThe letter has been signed by senior advocates Salman Khurshid Dushyant Dave and Meenakshi Arora among othersAn FIR was lodged in Uttarakhands Haridwar district against Jitendra Narayan Tyagi and others in connection with alleged hate speeches delivered at a Dharma Sansad to incite violence against the minoritiesThe second event was organised by the Hindu Yuva Vahini in DelhiTyagi who changed his name from Waseem Rizvi after converting to Hinduism earlier this month and other speakers at last weeks event have been accused of making extremely provocative speeches and some video clips of the same are doing the rounds on social mediaThe FIR was registered under IPC section 153A promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion race place of birth residence language and the matter is under investigation the police saidThe case was registered on the basis of a complaint by a resident of the Jwalapur area in HaridwarAt the event several speakers allegedly made inflammatory and provocative speeches calling for the killing of people from the minority communities and for taking up arms and shooting a former prime ministerThe Dharma Sansad was allegedly organised by Yati Narasimhanand Giri of Juna Akhada who is already under police scanner for making hate speeches and inciting violence against the minorities in the past PTI PKS IJT
