Ranchi Feb 28 PTI The Jharkhand Assembly on Monday witnessed uproarious scenes as BJP legislators demanded appointment of Babulal Marandi as the leader of the opposition in the House The saffron party members also alleged that Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato has not taken any decision on the issue at the behest of the JMM-led government even after the election of Marandi as the BJPs legislative party leader in 2020 Before beginning of the proceedings on the second day of the budget session the BJP MLAs demonstrated outside the assembly premises to press their demand and held placards saying stop murder of the democracy and restore dignity of House The Assembly Speaker however said the last hearing on the issue took place on February 10 and a decision will be taken soon Marandi the former chief minister floated the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha Prajatantrik and won on a ticket of his party in the 2019 elections Later he merged his party with the BJP but he has not been recognised as a saffron party legislator by the Speaker The Assembly has been functioning without the leader of the opposition A delegation of BJP leaders had on Sunday met Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention for appointment of Marandi as the leader of the opposition in the 81-member state Assembly Marandi was unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party in 2020 The delegation led by saffron camps state president Deepak Prakash had told the governor that the Rajdhanwar legislator has not been accorded the status of the leader of the opposition even after two years of his election as the BJP legislative party leader The saffron party has 25 members excluding Marandi The ruling JMM-Congress-RJD has a combined strength of 47 in the House Despite the BJP members agitation the Question Hour in the House took place The ongoing budget session of the Jharkhand Assembly that started on February 25 will continue till March 25 PTI SAN NAM BDC BDC

Ranchi Dec 22 PTI The suspension of BJP MLA Manish Jaiswal from Jharkhand Assembly was revoked on Wednesday a day after being suspended for the rest of the winter session by the speaker for tearing a House document and was allowed to participate in the proceedings after the lunch break Jaiswal was allowed to participate in the proceedings of the last day of the winter session after state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam requested Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto to revoke the order following demands by the opposition BJP On Tuesday Jaiswal tore up a copy of his calling attention motion during the zero hour in the House when the opposition parties led by BJP were protesting for the fourth consecutive day against the Hemant Soren government for not taking cognizance of the alleged manipulation in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission JPSC examination and demanding CBI inquiry into it The MLA before tearing up the document had said he has no hope of the government taking any step and so there is no point in reading out the calling attention motion He had also said the demand for CBI inquiry is made by BJP as the issue of JPSC manipulation is a matter of public interest and concerned the future of thousands of students Alam had objected to the tearing of the copy of the calling attention motion and Chief Minister Hemant Soren who was present in the House demanded action against Jaiswal The BJP MLA was then suspended by the speaker PTI IKD KK KK KK

Ranchi Nov 25 PTI The winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly will commence on December 16 and continue for six days The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren officials said on Thursday Approval was given for the provisional programme for convening the seventh winter session of the fifth Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from December 16 2021 to December 22 2021 a government official said after the meeting During the day the cabinet also gave nod for an extension of Jharkhand Textile Apparel and Footwear Policy-2016 from September 19 for one year or till a new policy is drafted whichever is earlier The Jharkhand government seeks to achieve higher and sustainable growth in the entire textile value chain -- from fibre to finished products -- with emphasis on balanced regional development The official said that the cabinet also gave its green signal for constituting a panel that would select banks for parking funds related to government schemes Besides approval was given for the formation of Jharkhand Medical Education Appointment Promotion and Service Condition Second Amendment Rules-2021 PTI NAM RMS RMS
