Thane Dec 26 PTI A day after the body of a 5-month-old boy was found in a water-filled drum in Kalwa in Thane district police on Sunday arrested the infants mother and charged her with murder and disappearance of evidence an official said Shrikant Shankar Chavans kin had told police he was kidnapped on Friday afternoon from their Mahatma Phule Nagar home after which Kalwa police formed several teams to crack the case However on Saturday morning the infants body was found in a water-filled plastic drum near his home We checked the CCTV footage of the area and questioned people including the childs kin We got a tip off the child used to fall ill frequently and it was his mother Shantabai Chavan who used to give him medicines However on Friday she accidentally gave him a high dose which left the child dead Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkat Andale told PTI She cooked up a story about the child being kidnapped on Friday afternoon and then put in inside the water-filled drum on Saturday morning She has confessed to the crime Kalwa police is probing further the ACP said PTI COR BNM BNM BNM

Thane Oct 23 PTI A 45-year-old Nepali man has been arrested in Maharashtras Thane city after he allegedly stabbed a compatriot Indramoham Barmalebuda the accused had arrived in India recently police said He and victim Padmabhushan Takola 49 hail from the same village in Nepal said senior inspector Jairaj Ranaware of the Thane Nagar police station Barmalebuda on Friday afternoon landed at Takolas house The latter works as a security guard in a housing complex in Kharkar Aali area and lives on the same premises The accused asked him for shelter the police officer said When Takola who lives with wife and children expressed inability the accused allegedly stabbed him in the stomach A video of Takola walking down a street towards hospital in a grievously injured state went viral of social media Police took him to the Kalwa civil hospital where he underwent a surgery and his condition was said to be serious Barmalebuda was arrested under section 307 of the IPC attempt to murder and further probe was on said the police officer PTI COR KRK KRK
