Chennai: The weather department has said the downpour will continue till noon. Chennai is also likely to witness heavy rainfall in the evening. Incessant rainfall caused waterlogging in several parts of Chennai, resulting in traffic diversions and closure of subways — throwing life out of gear for the people.
By Wednesday evening, the intermittent and light rainfall that Tamil Nadu witnessed through the day had picked up pace and turned into a non-stop heavy shower in many parts of the state including Chennai and nearby Chengelpet, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Villupuram.
Tamil Nadu is witnessing the heaviest rainfall on record since 2015.
