Puducherry Mar 24 PTI Puducherry logged only a single case of COVID-19 on Thursday for the second consecutive day taking the overall tally to 165774 Director of Health G Sriramulu in a release said the health department has examined 303 samples in the last 24 hours and the solitary case surfaced from Puducherry region The other three regions of Karaikal Mahe and Yanam had no new case of infection Sriramulu said the department has examined 2226945 samples and has found 1871606 samples out of them to be negative No fresh fatality was reported from any of the regions today and the death toll remained unchanged at 1962 The test positivity rate was 033 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 118 per cent and 9881 per cent respectively There are 11 remaining active cases and all of them are staying in home quarantine the Director said adding that the number of overall recoveries stood at 163801 The department has administered 1622654 doses so far which comprised 940191 first doses 668879 second doses and 13584 booster doses the Director said PTI COR HDA HDA

Puducherry Oct 18 PTI The union territory of Puducherry added 28 new coronavirus cases and registered less than one per cent test positivity rate during the last 24 hours a senior official of the Department of Health said on Monday The test positivity rate was 073 per cent and the number of fresh cases also declined to 28 taking the overall tally to 127424 Director of the Health Department G Sriramulu said in a release No fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions -Puducherry Karaikal Mahe and Yanam - the Director said adding the fatalities remained at 1850 The 28 fresh cases identified at the end of the examination of 3846 samples were spread over Puducherry 24 Karaikal three and Mahe one he said Yanam region an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh did not report any fresh case the Director said The number of active cases in the union territory stood at 523 with 105 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 418 in home isolation he added The Department has so far tested 1872 lakh samples and found 1588 lakh out of them to be negative As many as 90 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Monday pushing the overall recoveries to 125051 Sriramulu said the fatality and recovery rates were 145 per cent and 9814 per cent respectively He said the department has so far administered 1076582 doses which comprised 712534 first doses and 364048 second doses PTI Cor SS SS
Puducherry Sep 24 PTI The union territory of Puducherry logged 94 fresh COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours as the overall tally rose to 125920 a senior Health department official said on Friday The union territory recorded less than 100 infections for the second straight day after adding 91 on Thursday Director of the Health Department G Sriramulu said the new cases were identified at the end of the examination of 4836 samples and were spread over Puducherry 65 Karaikal 25 and Mahe four Yanam an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh did not report any fresh cases in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Friday Also for the second day in a row Puducherry and its enclaves - Karaikal Mahe and Yanam did not report any fatality The death toll stood at 1834 the Director of Health said He said the number of active cases stood at 956 with 122 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and remaining 834 patients in home isolation As many as 107 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours he said adding that the overall recoveries mounted to 123130 Sriramulu said the Department of Health has so far tested 1762 lakh samples and found 1495 lakh out of them to be negative The test positivity rate in Puducherry was 194 per cent while fatality and recovery rates were 146 per cent and 9778 per cent respectively The Health Department has so far administered 951267 vaccines which included 674697 first dose and the remaining 276530 were second dose PTI Cor SS SS
Puducherry Sept 23 PTI The civic polls will be held in the union territory of Puducherry in three phases between October 21 and 28State Election Commissioner Roy P Thomas told reporters on Wednesday after releasing poll schedule that the statutory notification for the first phase of poll slated for October 21 for the Karaikal Mahe and Yanam municipalities and also for the commune panchayats of Kottucherry Nedungadu Neravy Tirumalairayanpattinam and Tirunallar all in Karaikal region would be issued on September 30 to set the poll process in motionThe notification for the second phase of poll slated to be held on October 25 for the Municipalities in Puducherry and Oulgaret in Puducherry would be issued on October 4He said the third phase of poll has been scheduled to be held on October 28 to the Ariyankuppam Bahoor Mannadipet Nettapakkam and Villianur commune panchayats and the statutory notification for the third phase of election would be issued on October 7The SEC said the elections to the local bodies are being held in Union Territory after a gap of 15 yearsIn the first phase 230 lakh voters would go to the polls while 444 lakh voters would exercise their franchise in the second phase and in the third phase 328 lakh voters would go to the pollElection would be held between 7 am and 6 pm the SEC said and added that the last one hour between 5 pm and 6 pm would be earmarked for Covid patients and patients with symptoms of the pandemic to exercise their franchiseRoy P Thomas also said for the first time multi post electronic voting machines would be used in the polls As many as 1629 polling stations have been identified wherein about 8500 officers would be deployed to conduct the polls in a free fair and transparent mannerCounting of votes would take place on October 31 after the poll in three phases is completedThe last civic poll was held in 2006 and no election could be held at the end of five year tenure of the civic bodies that came into existence in the wake of the 2006 polls for various reasons PTI COR ROH ROH
