Nagaland Cabinet okays extension of doctors retirement age with riders

Kohima Apr 21 PTI The Nagaland Cabinet on Thursday decided to increase the superannuation age of its in-service doctors but with riders a government spokesperson saidMembers of the Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association NIDA had gone on mass casual leave from April 18 to 19 to press for their demand for an increase in the retirement age of government medical practitioners from 60 to 62 yearsThe state Cabinet has carefully studied the demand of NIDA and decided that extension of their services will be granted under the condition that they will be re-employed only in the clinical sector till 62 years Mmhonlumo Kikon co-spokesperson of the state government saidAlso those interested will be allowed to work in hospitals but without any administrative position he saidThe Cabinet also decided that for those who want to be re-employed in the medical colleges within the state the age limit would be increased to 65 years but they would not get a pension he saidNIDA president Dr E Pyantsuthung told PTI that the association is yet to receive any official communication from the government on their demand and therefore they would wait till Friday and then arrive at a decision PTI NBS MM MM

Nagaland reports 47 new COVID-19 cases 1 more death

Kohima Aug 24 PTI Nagalands COVID-19 tally on Tuesday rose to 29669 as 47 more people tested positive for the virus a health official said The COVID-19 death toll in the state climbed to 611 with one more person succumbing to the disease in Dimapur district he said Forty-seven positive cases detected today are Dimapur 18 Kohima 13 Mokokchung 11 Phek 3 and Mon and Peren 1 each he said Seventy-three COVID positive patients recovered during the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 27311 said State Nodal Officer for Integrated Disease Surveillance Project Dr Nyanthung Kikon in the daily COVID-19 bulletin The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state now is 9205 per cent Nagaland currently has 888 active COVID-19 cases he said adding that altogether 859 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states So far a total of 305999 samples have been tested for COVID-19 Dr Kikon said A total of 834662 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to 649661 people in Nagaland as on Monday said State Immunization Officer Dr Ritu Thurr PTI NBS RG RG
