Mumbai Jan 19 PTI The Central Railway has announced a 14-hour block or stoppage of traffic between Thane and Diva stations in Thane district which will start little after Saturday midnightThe purpose was to carry out cut and connection of newly laid track and commissioning of crossovers the CR said in a release on WednesdaySeveral long distance trains and suburban locals will be cancelled said a senior railway officialThe block was part of the work of 5th and 6th line project under the phase two of the ambitious Mumbai Urban Transport Project MUTP-II he saidAfter the block the existing DOWN fast line trains running via Parsik tunnel will be shifted on one of the two lines available via Kalva station whereas the trains on the existing UP fast line will be shifted on another line via Kalva station after the next blockPresently the number of daily suburban commuters is down due to the pandemic But in normal times over 40 lakh commuters used to travel by more than 1350 suburban services of the CR PTI KK KRK KRK

MSRTC strike Over 18000 employees rejoin duty

Mumbai Nov 27 PTI More than 18000 employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation MSRTC reported to work on Saturday even as the majority continued their strike on the 31st day The agitation of employees who are seeking merger of the cash-strapped corporation with the state government has crippled the state-run bus service for a month now An MSRTC spokesperson said 18090 out of 92266 employees joined duty on Saturday including 2130 drivers and 2112 conductors At some depots like Mangaon in Raigad district all the employees joined duty the official said adding that at Kolhapur depot and in divisions including Sangli bus operations resumed with full capacity The MSRTC had operated 410 buses including 313 ordinary ones as of 2 pm on Saturday On Friday after a meeting with the action committee of MSRTC labour unions Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab had appealed to the employees to resume duty and warned of stern action if they continued to remain absent from work The corporation has suspended 3215 permanent employees and terminated the services of 1226 daily wage workers so far PTI KK KRK KRK

Mumbai Oct 27 PTI Maharashtra on Wednesday reported 1485 new coronavirus cases and 38 fatalities a health department official said The tally of COVID-19 cases in the state thus rose to 6606536 and death toll reached 140098 The state now has 19480 active patients while 172600 people are in home quarantine and 933 in institutional quarantine On Tuesday Maharashtra had logged 1201 new coronavirus cases and 32 fatalities As many as 2536 patients were discharged from hospitals raising the number of recoveries to 6443342 Maharashtras case recovery rate now stands at 9753 per cent while the fatality rate is 212 per cent The number of coronavirus tests conducted in the state climbed to 62202811 with 122608 samples tested since Tuesday evening Nine districts and five municipal corporations did not report a single new COVID-19 case whereas several districts and municipal corporations logged new cases in single digit Mumbai reported the highest 417 new infections besides four deaths followed by Ahmednagar district with 149 new cases Among the eight administrative regions of Maharashtra Mumbai region reported the highest 697 new COVID-19 cases followed by 432 cases in Pune region Nashik region reported 218 new cases Kolhapur 52 Latur 39 Aurangabad 36 Nagpur six and Akola region recorded five new COVID-19 cases Mumbai region reported the highest 17 fatalities followed by eight deaths each in Pune and Nashik regions Latur and Kolhapur regions reported three and two fatalities respectively Aurangabad Nagpur and Akola regions did not report any fatality in the last 24 hours Pune city reported 100 new cases but no fresh fatality Of 19480 active patients in the state Mumbai has the highest 4993 cases Coronavirus figures of Maharashtra are as follows Total cases - 6606536 New cases-1485 Total deaths-140098 New deaths - 38 Total recoveries- 6443342 Active cases-19480 Total tests conducted-62202811 PTI KK KRK KRK

Do not entertain complaints without proof senders name Maha govt to officials

Mumbai Sep 28 PTI Anonymous complaints or complaints without any documentary proof should not be entertained by officials the Maharashtra government has said in a new order As per a government resolution GR issued on September 24 a complaint where the sender has not identified himself or herself or has not attached any proof should be junked If a complaint comes from an employees union it should not be entertained unless it is on the unions formal letterhead it said If the complaint is made in the prescribed manner is not anonymous and is accompanied by proof of proper documents then such complaints regarding administrative delay should be ascertained by the competent authority the GR stated If a complaint is about any alleged crime it should be forwarded to respective agencies such as police State Womens Commission Child Rights Commission or Anti-Corruption Bureau it said PTI KK KRK KRK
