Itanagar Dec 31 PTI Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig Retd Dr B D Mishra and his Assam counterpart Jagadish Mukhi will celebrate the New Year with locals and army jawans at the India-China border on Saturday The two governors will visit Kaho the last Indian village in Arunachal Pradesh along the international border on New Years Day and interact with locals and the jawans guarding the frontier a Raj Bhavan communiqu said One of the seven villages in Kibithoo block of Anjaw district Kaho had weathered a Chinese attack in the 1962 war Its residents had assisted the outnumbered Indian soldiers Mukhi who is on a four-day tour to Arunachal Pradesh arrived here on Friday and was received by Mishra Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia at the Raj Bhavan helipad here Mukhi was presented a guard of honour by state police personnel at Naharlagun helipad and by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police at Raj Bhavan Mishra interacted with Mukhi expressing hope that his visit will further cement the age-old cordial relations between the two neighbouring states He said that reinforcement of goodwill between people of the two states will boost the socio-economic development of the region and also secure the nations territorial integrity PTI UPL ACD ACD
Guwahati Dec 25 PTI Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Saturday said awareness and education on different cultures are essential to inculcate tolerance towards each other and resolve conflicts through dialogue He said that education should be aimed at providing information on different cultures and ideologies to broaden the mental outlook from the formative years an official release said Speaking at a conclave on Conflict of Civilization in Post-Modern India and its Remedy here Mukhi said ideological moorings which influence language culture tradition and most importantly religion should not be allowed to foment conflict Rather a broad-based education with comprehensive information about other people their cultures and ideology can broaden the mental outlook which will subsequently be helpful in resolving conflicts he added Mukhi said India is a multi-cultural nation and diverse people have made this land their home and assimilated into its society However conflict arises when any one or more groups assert their hegemony over others on economic linguistic cultural or political front He further said It is really heartening that in our country people belonging to different religious linguistic and ethnic groups are living in complete harmony This has been done through dialogue and inculcating the value of tolerance to remove prejudice against other communities regarding their belief systems and cultural practices The governor said in the past though conflicts happened between kings and kingdoms because of their expansionist policies gradually the nature of conflict deviated to cultural affiliations This is a dangerous proposition which might weaken the very edifice of human existence he cautioned The governor said in view of increasing instances of cultural conflicts which might snowball into a major global crisis there is an urgent need to aggressively generate awareness education for resolving conflict To reduce the tensions and polarisation between societies which differ in religious and cultural values it is necessary to teach children and young people about the diverse cultures and communities that the society is blessed with he said For instance many people from Northeast India have been victims of hate crimes and prejudice in other parts of India This has to be negotiated and altered with large scale information education and communication Mukhi said PTI SSG RG RG
Guwahati Dec 18 PTI Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Saturday said young people should be trained and encouraged to pursue entrepreneurship so that they can create employment opportunities He also said given the large pool of young population in the country India stands to benefit immensely by properly tapping its potential The governor was speaking after inaugurating the Assam Chapter of Youth4Nation here a press release issued by the Raj Bhavan said Youth4Nation is a nationwide initiative to connect with students in colleges and universities to inculcate a nationalistic thought process in them Prof Mukhi said such a programme would greatly help India where 21 per cent of its people are aged between 15 and 21 years Pointing out that about 10 to 12 million young people in the country become eligible to join the workforce every year he said it is important to train and encourage them to undertake entrepreneurship to create employment for themselves and others The governor also underlined the importance of motivating young generation by a patriotic spirit so that the nation can reap the benefits of the large and diverse demographic profile of the country Considering the large pool of young people in India Prof Mukhi emphasised the need for productively using youth power to propel the growth of the nation He said India is passing through exhilarating times When we travel around we really become passionate and enthusiastic to see the beaming confidence of our potential youth forces For the first time in the last 300 years we have received the respect of almost all the major countries He asked the young people to carry forward this momentum and help India become a developed economy Prof Mukhi hailed the Youth4Nation for its initiative of starting a chapter in Assam which would essentially indulge in promotional activities starting with the Do You Know That series of online posters highlighting the rich culture and heritage of the country PTI SSG MM MM
Guwahati Dec 18 PTI Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi has urged authorities of private universities to focus on quality research and teaching to make Assam one of the top-performing states in the education sector He also stressed on the role of universities to encourage students to play a decisive role as catalysts for the growth of the country Education is the central pillar of a nations growth Its quality and penetration and its efficacy in terms of producing job-ready graduates with strong ethical values and patriotism determine the future of a nation Mukhi said while addressing a conference of chancellors and vice-chancellors of six private universities in the state on Friday The governor urged the VCs of private universities to set high standards to transform their respective institutions into centres of excellence Referring to the National Education Policy 2020 which puts emphasis on practical learning he advocated hands-on experimental and analytical studies for all students He also referred to the newly introduced system - Impacting Research Innovation and Technology- and asked the VCs to use it to focus on a technology-driven knowledge base IMPRINT provides the overarching vision that guides research into areas that are predominantly socially relevant Mukhi further said the institutions of higher studies should think of implementing dual degree programmes for the benefit of future generations PTI SCG BDC BDC
Guwahati Sep 25 PTI The Assam government has sought the Centres help in popularising creations by Assam weavers globally as well as modernising the textile industry of the state official sources said on Saturday The request for these interventions was placed before Union Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Jardosh during her two-day visit to the state which concluded on Friday During Jardoshs meeting with Governor Jagdish Mukhi the latter sought the Union ministers special attention towards the textile sector of the state the sources said He requested Jardosh to take up specific schemes for empowerment of women weavers of the state Mukhi also sought her help in popularising the traditional design of the states textile in outside markets Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also sought similar interventions from the Centre in the textile sector during his meeting with Jardosh the sources further said He requested the Union minister to set up an Indian Institute of Fashion Technology in the states largest city Guwahati He sought the Union Textile ministrys intervention to help the textile industry in Assam with modern technology and enable the Assam weavers creation to occupy global market The Union minister also reviewed the implementation of various schemes of the ministry with senior state government officials during the visit She emphasised on the convergence of technology for increasing the beauty and demand of Assamese traditional garments across the globe at the review meeting the sources added PTI SSG RG RG
Guwahati Aug 31 PTI Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Tuesday stressed on the importance of educating girls to ensure the development of the nation The governor said this during his visit to Kalyani Niwas a shelter house for girls here an official statement said Education is the prime mover of development It should be compulsorily provided to all girls and they should be encouraged to pursue studies and contribute more meaningfully to the growth of the country Mukhi said He also advocated proper guidance to an individual during childhood as it is a crucial phase for personality formation in a persons life Since childhood is the most formative period in ones life all efforts should be taken to ensure that children enjoy their childhood Mukhi said We should also remember that the children who receive love care and good education grow into strong teenagers who make their own impact in the world the governor added He also lauded Kalyani Niwas for promoting the Prime Ministers Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign by taking care of girl children Kalyani Niwas is a project under the Indian Council for Child Welfare Assam State Branch which started in 2007 The home is supported by the Assam State Child Protection Society since April 2019 The governor assured all possible help and cooperation to the organisation to keep up its work as he shared a meal with the children of the shelter home PTI SSG MM MM
