A Varanasi court deferred the hearing of a plea seeking the filing of a case against Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of the people of Kashi by making controversial remarks to December 22.
"Our External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar had said that the old relations will not be restored until peace is restored on the border, but we see that the Prime Minister of our country gets up and meets the Premier of China, why is there a need to show such weakness? China's PLA is sitting on one thousand square kilometres in Ladakh, this is the truth and our government does not say anything when American generals come and say what is happening on the border," said AIMIM chief Owaisi.
Soon after reports of a face-off between the Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang sector in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday surfaced, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at the Centre accusing it of keeping the country in the "dark" for days and asked why Parliament was not informed about the incident.
"We are humans after and are prone to get emotional. While I was talking about Bilkis Bano, throughts of my own sister and daughter crossed to my mind. She was pregnant when she was raped and her mother and daughter were also killed. However, even after 20 years, she is still fighting for justice. If someone doesn't feel the pain, he is not worthy of being called human," Owasi said.
"BJP politics over this is completely wrong. It's not an issue of love jihad but of exploitation and abuse against a woman and that is how it should be viewed and condemned," Owaisi said.
