New Delhi [India], April 18 (ANI): In view of the health parameters set by the Government of West Bengal in accordance with the Ministry of Health, fans will be allowed in selected stands and sections in stadiums for the I-League 2021-22 from the second round which kicks-off from April 22 onwards.

New Delhi Mar 17 PTI The plantation undertaken in Delhi under the city governments Greening Delhi Mission since 2016 has ameliorated degraded sites and the Yamuna bank which were left fallow the Forest Research Institute Dehradun has said in a report The FRI whichconductedan audit of sapling plantation undertaken from 2016 to 2019 said the plants will act as bio-remedial agents which will be helpful in controlling water pollution at the Yamuna bank Under Greening Delhi Mission the government of NCT ofDelhi has taken up plantations on available vacant lands in three forest divisions The plantation started in 2016-17 It is encouragingthat this plantation programme has proved the importance of the potent capacities of differentspecies in ameliorating degraded sites and Yamuna bank which were hitherto left fallow the audit report readThis result would definitely persuade others to think for the bio-remediation of large tracts adversely affected due to inflow of industrial polluted water and sewerage in Delhi it saidThe FRI noted that the encouragement of large-scale afforestation as part of the mission will definitely improve ecology ameliorate the environment and augment the livelihood of the people in the national capitalAccording to the audit report released earlier this month 72 per cent to 81 per cent of the saplings planted in Delhi between 2016 and 2019 have survivedThe government will also ask the Dehradun-based institute to conduct an audit of plantations undertaken in the last two yearsEnvironment Minister Gopal Rai had said while releasing the reportThe survival rate stood at 8021 per cent in the North division In the West division 785 per cent of the saplings survived in the Alipur range and 7568 per cent in the Najafgarh rangeIn the South division the survival rate was 72 per cent in Mehrauli 76 per cent in Asola Bhatti Phase I and 8133 per cent in Phase 2Delhis green cover has increased from 20 per cent of its geographical area in 2013 to 2306 per cent in 2021The National Forest Policy aims at bringing a minimum one-third of Indias total geographical area under green cover The green cover should be at least 66 per cent of the total area in hilly regions and 20 per cent in the plains PTI GVS ANB ANB

New Delhi Jan 22 PTI The Election Commission on Saturday extended the ban on physical rallies and roadshows till January 31 in the five poll-going states but allowed public meetings with a maximum of 500 people in the constituencies going to poll in the first two phases and relaxed door-to-door campaign rules In a statement it said the limit of five persons for door-to-door campaign has now been enhanced to 10 persons excluding security personnel For the phase 1 polling on February 10 political parties and contesting candidates can hold physical public meetings with a cap of 500 people from January 28 For the phase 2 polling on February 14 such meetings can be held from February 1 Video vans for publicity have also been permitted at designated open spaces with COVID-19 restrictions Announcing the dates for elections in Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand Goa Punjab and Manipur on January 8 the poll panel had announced a ban on physical rallies roadshows and bike rallies and similar campaign events till January 15 On January 15 the commission extended the ban until January 22 It had however granted a relaxation for political parties to hold indoor meetings of maximum 300 people or 50 per cent of the capacity of the hall After considering the present situation facts and circumstances as also the inputs received in a series of virtual meets on Saturday the Commission said it has decided that no roadshows padayatras cycle bike or vehicle rallies and procession will be allowed till January 31 Since contesting candidates for Phase 1 elections will be finalised on January 27 the Commission has decided to allow physical public meetings of the political parties concerned and contesting candidates in designated open spaces with a maximum of 500 persons or 50 per cent of the capacity of the ground or the prescribed limit set by state disaster management authorities SDMA whichever number is lesser from January 28 till February 8 excluding the 48-hour silence period Similarly since contesting candidates for Phase 2 elections will be finalised on January 31 the Commission decided to allow physical meetings of the political parties concerned and contesting candidates from February 1 till February 12 excluding the silence period The EC has already granted relaxation for the political parties to the extent that indoor meetings of a maximum of 300 persons or 50 per cent of the capacity of the hall or the prescribed limit set by SDMA is allowed Uttar Pradesh will have the first two phases of polling on February 10 and 14 Uttarakhand and Goa will have single phase polls on February 14 The Commission the statement said has also allowed video vans for publicity with usual COVID-19 restrictions at designated open spaces with a maximum of 500 viewers or 50 per cent of the capacity or the limit set by SDMA whichever number is lesser in the five poll-going states It cautioned that the video van events should not cause inconvenience to the people and should not be a hindrance to smooth flow of traffic It will be the responsibility of the district election officer concerned to identify and to notify the designated spaces in advance for the events The EC issued the orders after it held a review meeting with the Union Health Ministry through virtual mode The Commission also held virtual meetings with chief secretaries chief electoral officers and health secretaries of Goa Manipur Punjab Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh The poll panel held a comprehensive review of the present situation with respect to status and projected trends of the Covid pandemic in the five poll-going states The Commission also reviewed vaccination status and action plan for expeditiously completing vaccination for first second and booster doses for eligible persons amongst polling personnel The poll panel will now review the situation on January 31 PTI NAB SMN SMN

Jammu Jan 19 PTI Jammu Smart City Ltd JSCL on Wednesday signed an agreement with Shree Balaji Engicons Ltd for the development of right and left banks of River Tawi here on the lines of Gujarats Sabarmati Riverfront The pact was signed and exchanged between JSCL Chief Executive Officer Avny Lavasa and Shree Balaji Engicons Director Vinay Agrawal officials said They said JSCL has achieved a milestone after signing a contract for the development of the Tawi riverfront which has been an ambitious project for the city of temples The work on the project will commence soon to enhance its overall look and open up new avenues for tourism and economic development the officials said The project will add aesthetic value to River Tawi bydeveloping natural purification capability besides sustainable development of environment and urban infrastructure Lavasa said He asked the asked project executing agency to expedite the work and complete the construction work in a stipulated time frame Agrawal said the company will commence work on the ambitious project at the earliest and will complete it within the time frame Under the project a 35-km both side long riverfront is proposed to be completed in two phases The first phase starts from 4th bridge to Tawi Bridge and Phase 2 from Tawi Bridge to Gujjar Nagar Bridge the official said They said the pathways will be constructed on both sides of the river to provide easy access to the public The officials said the project also comprises bank protection of River Tawi with broad salient features of construction of diaphragm walls lower promenade retaining wall embankment construction JSCL is focused on improving the quality of life of people by enabling local development and harnessing technology to create smart outcomes for citizens they said The main components of the Jammu Smart City Projects are city beautification solid waste management IT-enabled infrastructure road and parking improvement disaster and emergency management and civic infrastructure development PTI TAS AB HRS hrs
