Pontevedra (Spain), October 23 (ANI): The Indian contingent at the U23 World Wrestling championship saw the biggest victory on Saturday as Aman Sehrawat, the Indian teenager, made history on Saturday by being the first wrestler from India to win a gold medal at the U-23 World Wrestling Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.
After defeating Snizhana Onufriieva of Ukraine by technical superiority in her first bout, Ankush Panghal, who became the U20 Asian champion earlier this year in the 57kg, defeated Germany's Ersel Lisa in a similar fashion in the quarter-finals.
Nitesh won the 97 kg Bronze by defeating Brazillian Igor Fernando Alves De Queirozin in the Under-23 Senior World Wrestling Championship in Spain. The Indian wrestler completely dominated the Brazil wrestler and won 10-0 giving India its third medal.
Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], October 19 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday said that he would take up the issue of the denial of visas to 21 members of the 30-strong Indian squad for the U-23 World Wrestling Championships by the Spanish Embassy with the Ministry of External Affairs.
India suffered a major blow in the U-23 World Wrestling Championships after 21 members of the 30-member squad were denied visas to Spain by the Spanish Embassy.
21 members of the 30-member Wrestling squad of India were denied visa to Spain and as per reports the denial is due to the intentions of the players to leave the territory before the expiry of the visa.
