Mega bio-CNG plant to start in 15-20 days Indore civic chief

Indore Jan 21 PTI A mega plant established in Indore in Madhya Pradesh will be operational in 15-20 days and start producing bio-CNG from 550 tonnes of liquid waste generated every day in the city Indore Municipal Corporation IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal said on Friday Touted as the largest such facility in Asia by local civic officials the plant will produce 18000 kilograms of bio-CNG which will be used to power IMCs transport buses as well as a large quantity of compost Testing of machinery at the bio-CNG plant has been completed We are hoping to start production with full capacity in the next 15-20 days Pal told reporters It has been established over a 15-acre trenching ground in Devguradia area at an investment of Rs 150 crore with the IMC not having to spend a single rupee on the plant and the private firm paying the civic body Rs 25 crore per year in lieu of liquid waste As per the agreement with the firm bio-CNG will be made available to the IMC at Rs 5 less than prevailing market rates for green gas officials informed The city has a population of 35 lakh and facilities have been created for safe disposal of 600 tonnes each of dry and liquid waste they said adding that Indore which has been named Indias cleanest city in the Centres Swachh Survekshan works on a 3R model of reduce-reuse-recycle PTI HWP MAS BNM BNM BNM

Indore Nov 17 PTI Nearly 300 city buses will run on Bio-CNG produced at a wet waste management plant in Madhya Pradeshs Indore city an official said on Wednesday The 550-tonne per day capacity plant was set up in the city with public participation and will become functional soon the official said This is a first-of-its kind plant in the country which is based on the concept of earning from waste and is a classic example of the circular economy Indore Municipal Corporation IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal told reporters Indore BJP Lok Sabha MP Shankar Lalwani and Pal inspected the plant and hoped that the production of Bio-CNG will soon begin at the facility Bio-CNG and a small quantity of compost manure will be produced every day with 550 tonne wet waste she said Nearly 300 city buses will run on the Bio-CNG produced at the plant which will not only conserve the environment but also bring down the fuel cost Pal said The plant is established by a private company which will pay an annual premium of more than Rs 15 crore to the civic body for the supply of wet waste she said As per the agreement the company will supply Bio-CNG to the IMC at Rs 5 less than the market rate Pal said According to a rough estimate nearly 1200 tonnes of waste including 600 wet and 600 dry waste is disposed of in the city which has an estimated population of 35 lakh In the last four Swacchta surveys of the Central government Indore has remained on top and the city is expecting to retain its position when the result of the 2021 survey is announced on November 20 PTI HWP MAS ARU ARU

Indore Sep 21 PTI An FIR has been registered against nine employees of the civic body in Madhya Pradeshs Indore city for allegedly disrespecting Ganpati idols collected from people by throwing them into a pond for immersion Based on a complaint lodged by an employee of the Indore Municipal Corporation IMC an FIR under section 295A deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs was registered against nine civic employees an official from Chandan Nagar police station said IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal had on Monday terminated the services of seven temporary employees after the incident of throwing Ganpati idols came to light and terminated two supervisors on Tuesday The incident of throwing idols in a pond has hurt the religious sentiments of people Pal said Apart from this the civic chief has also suspended an area officer and a programme officer over the issue The video of the incident has gone viral on social media in which IMC employees can be seen throwing the idols in a hurried manner even as enraged citizens were heard saying that their religious sentiments were being hurt and strongly criticising the civic administration Meanwhile Indore BJP MP Shankar Lalwani condemned the incident and said that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also expressed anguish over it The IMC had collected idols from different parts of the city for immersing them in water bodies after the 10-day long Ganpati festival culminated on Sunday PTI HWP MAS ARU ARU
