Shivamogga (Karnataka) [India], August 16 (ANI): Three persons have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a youth near Gandhi Bazar area of Shivamogga on August 15, officials said on Tuesday.

Raipur Nov 30 PTI A court here in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday sentenced a 32-year-old man to life imprisonment for abducting and murdering a seven-year-old son of his neighbour over a dispute with the deceaseds family in 2017 The court of the 11th Additional District and Sessions Judge Yashwant Wasnikar convicted Prem Singh alias Raju a resident of Deori village under the Dharsinva police station limits for abduction and murder of the boy who was also a resident of the same village and awarded him life imprisonment said additional government pleader Aditya Jha Singh was handed a life term under section 302 punishment for murder of the Indian penal Code IPC and a Rs 2000 fine was imposed The court handed him 10-year imprisonment under section 364 kidnapping or abducting in order to murder and slapped Rs 1000 fine He was also found guilty under section 201 causing disappearance of evidence of the offence or giving false information to screen offender and sentenced to three years in jail The court directed him to pay the fine of Rs 1000 Jha said All these sentences will run concurrently During the investigation Singh revealed that he had strangulated the boy and later set his body on fire to destroy evidence PTI COR NSK NSK

Mumbai Sep 24 PTI The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority MMRTA has approved fare revision for prepaid taxis operating at the international and domestic terminals of the airport here as well as for cabs plying on the Mumbai-Pune route an official said on Friday As per the rates approved by MMRTA the minimum fare for prepaid black-and-yellow taxis at the international terminal will be Rs 127 for the first six kilometres while it will be Rs 85 for four kilometres for those operating at the domestic one he said Beyond the minimum distance the fare will change every two kilometres for prepaid taxis operating out of the international and domestic terminals with a panel headed by former IAS official RC Khatua laying down that cabbies will also get an incentive in the range of 10-25 per cent which will keep reducing with the distance slabs The per passenger revised fare for non-AC and AC cabs on the Mumbai-Pune route will be Rs 450 and Rs 525 respectively The revision was decided at a recent MMRTA meeting and it will come into force with immediate effect The fare revision for these segments were due as cab fare within Mumbai was increased on March 1 he informed The official informed that if passengers want the AC on in black-and-yellow taxis they will have to pay 10 per cent higher fare than the per kilometre basic rate whereas the fare will be 20 per cent higher than that of the black-and-yellow taxis for cool cabs and AC taxis the official said Passengers will also have to pay Rs 20 service charge apart from the payable fare the official said The existing fare of Rs 350 per passenger for non-AC and Rs 425 for AC cabs on the Mumbai-Pune segment had remained unchanged since September 2013 As many as 396 licenced cabs operate on the route and unions have been demanding a fare hike since March last year due to rise in fuel and maintenance costs he said Veteran taxi union leader Prem Singh said the fare revision was a welcome move PTI KK BNM BNM BNM
Jammu Sep 21 PTI Nine people including two government school teachers were arrested on Tuesday in Reasi district in connection with an alleged attack on a police party which had arrested a criminal wanted in a rape case police said The accused were all close associates of the arrested criminal and one of them was also accused in a case related to the abduction and rape of a woman in 2013 a police official said Prem Singh was arrested by the police party in connection with a rape case that was lodged recently against him but the party came under attack from his associates who tried to help him escape police dragnet by creating a law and order problem the official said Singh is a notorious history-sheeter involved in 10 FIRs including murder rape and firing on police by a weapon issued under village defence committee besides trying to disturb communal harmony and other violations during past elections the official said He said Singh was bound down by executive magistrate twice in the past 25 years as a preventive measure to stop him from committing a crime Taking a serious note of the attack on the police party the official said all the nine accused involved including teachers Riaz Shah and Chain Singh were arrested The nine were arrested for endangering life and personal safety of others attacking a police party and creating law and order problems in the Chassana area he said He said both the teachers were booked in separate cases related to voluntarily causing hurt and other sections of the law in 2017 and 2020 respectively The official identified the other arrested accused as Chanar Singh Pawan Singh Balbir Singh Sukhdev Dalip Singh Balbir Singh and Rakesh Singh A case of kidnapping and rape was lodged against Chanar Singh and a chargesheet already stands filed against him in the court of law the official said adding that another accused Dalip Singh was involved in a theft case in 2015 PTI TAS AB AAR AAR
