MP govt to start AI course in schools vet telemedicine facility CM

Bhopal Mar 27 PTI The Madhya Pradesh government will start a course in Artificial Intelligence AI for students from class 8 which will be the first such initiative in the country Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Sunday The government will also launch a veterinary telemedicine facility so that livestock keepers can get advice on the phone regarding diseases of cows and other animals A similar facility will be launched for farmers so that they can consult experts over the phone regarding agriculture-related problems and diseases of crops the chief minister told a press conference at Pachmarhi the lone hill station in MP located 210 km away from Bhopal The two-day brainstorming session of the Madhya Pradesh cabinet held at Pachmarhi ended on Sunday The state cabinet also took several other decisions including setting up Sanjivani clinics in urban areas and regarding transportation policy for rural areas A decision has been taken to arrange veterinary telemedicine facility so that livestock keepers can get advice on the phone in case of any ailment to cows and other animals Chouhan said Similarly telecall arrangements will be made for farmers so that they can get advice about agriculture-related problems and diseases of crops from specialists he said Chouhan said students from class 8 will be taught artificial intelligence AI which is happening for the first time in the country A 240-hour course is being introduced for school students he said A renewed CM Tirth Darshan Yojana a free pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens which was inoperative due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be launched the next month and the first train will leave for Varanasi on April 18 he said adding that state cabinet ministers will also travel in this first train A plan to make arrangements for taking senior citizens to distant pilgrimage spots through the air was also discussed he said The amount of financial assistance for the Kanyadan Scheme for the marriage of girls from poor families has been increased to Rs 55000 the CM said A renewed Ladli Laxmi Yojana will be launched on May 2 he said Fair price shops will be turned into multipurpose shops where items other than ration will be sold the CM added He said schools are being developed at different places in MP under which buildings will be constructed for Rs 24 crore Chouhan said a CM Sanjivani clinic will be set up for every 25000 people in urban areas to reduce the burden on big hospitals he said adding that this facility will start from April 22 in some areas He said MP will become the first state in India where students can study MBBS in Hindi This move will help students who had studied from non-English medium schools Chouhan said He said cyber tehsils will also be set up where people will get land transfer titles online PTI ADU NSK NSK

Bhopal Jan 19 PTI In the new Excise Police for the next Financial Year the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has decided to allow the sale of liquor at all airports in the state and select supermarkets in four big cities and issue home bar licenses to those earning Rs one crore or more annually In the Excise Policy 2022-23 approved by the state Cabinet on Tuesday the government also decided to slash retail prices of liquor by 20 per cent in a bid to make them practical Explaining the rationale behind the proposed cut in rates of alcohol an official said that the prices will become competitive with neighbouring states Meanwhile the opposition Congress took a swipe saying the state government is not willing to provide any relief to common people by slashing taxes on fuel but is reducing the prices of liquor The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also cleared the Madhya Pradesh Heritage Traditional Liquor Policy Under the new Excise Policy counters selling liquor can be opened at all the airports in MP while licenses for opening such outlets can now be issued in select supermarkets in Indore Bhopal Jabalpur and Gwalior at a fixed fee an official statement said Now a home bar license will be issued at an annual fee of Rs 50000 to applicants with an annual individual income of Rs one crore or more it said Another official said that this is not the first time in the country that home bar licenses are going to be issued by any state Some northern states have been issuing such licenses he added Under the upcoming policy bar licenses can be issued at concessional rates to temporary units being operated by the Eco-Tourism Board and the Tourism Development Corporation at tourist places The state government also decided to simplify the liquor import process Opening of microbreweries will be allowed in Bhopal and Indore cities subject to No Objection Certificates NOCs to be issued by local civic bodies and the electricity department and after securing environmental clearance Officials also said that all the liquor outlets will now be composite shops to curb the sale of illegal alcohol Composite shops are the ones from where traders can sell Indian Made Foreign Liquor IMFL Country Made liquor and beer together District-level high power committees that include the collector and MLAs will be empowered to change locations of liquor shops if needed under the new excise policy Besides wine prepared from grapes by farmers in MP will be made duty free the officials said The new excise policy also has a provision of tetra-packing liquor and scanning the QR code to check the authenticity of the product The Madhya Pradesh cabinet also gave its nod to the new Heritage Liquor policy announced by the chief minister last November which will enable tribals to brew liquor from mahua Madhuca flowers in a traditional way and sell it This policy will be later presented before a cabinet sub-committee which was formed to discuss the heritage liquor project the officials said Madhya Pradesh Congress president Kamal Nath slammed the state government saying the upcoming excise policy shows its love for liquor While alcohol is set to become cheaper in MP but there is no relief in taxes levied on petrol and diesel Nath said The state government has taken several decisions to encourage liquor consumption under the new Excise Policy The BJP government wants to take alcohol to every household even though deaths due to spurious liquor are happening in the state the former chief minister alleged The BJP talks about prohibition during elections but becomes a big supporter of liquor when in power PTI ADU NSK NSK

Bhopal Dec 21 PTI As many as 68301 infants had died during treatment in the Special Newborn Care Units SNCUs of government-run hospitals in Madhya Pradesh in the last five years the Legislative Assembly was told on Tuesday In a written reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Jitu Patwari state Health Minister Prabhuram Choudhary stated that 68301 newborns died while 500996 infants were treated at the 51 SNCUs of government hospitals during the five years from 2016-17 to 2020-21 Patwari had sought the information about the children treated and the deaths at the SNCUs of state-run hospitals The highest number of 14759 newborns died during 2019-20 the minister stated As per the reply 12952 newborns died in 2016-17 13106 in 2017-18 13954 in 2018-19 and 13530 in 2020-21 The MLA also sought information about the status of the inquiry report into the death of newborn children in a fire tragedy at Bhopals Hamidia Hospital The written reply said that the information in this regard is being collected According to officials four children had died in this fire tragedy in the SNCU of Hamidia Hospital on November 7 Opposition Congress had claimed 14 fatalities in the incident PTI ADU NSK NSK

Bhopal Nov 30 PTI The presence of the H5N8 virus bird flu has been confirmed after at least 48 crows were found dead in Agar Malwa district of Madhya Pradesh a senior official said on Tuesday These cows had died in the last four days in Agar Malwa located 180 km away from the state capital Bhopal We had sent the samples of the dead crows for a laboratory test The examination of these samples confirmed the presence of H5N8 virus a variant of avian influenza or bird flu Agar Malwa district collector Avdhesh Sharma told reporters He said 48 crows and a cockle were found dead in the Agar Malwa district in the last four days We have taken the samples of poultry Officials of the departments concerned have been directed to follow the guidelines of the Union Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying the collector said He said it was suggested in a meeting that markets selling mutton in the Agar Malwa district be closed as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of avian influenza Another official said that after the mass death of crows the samples were sent to the Bhopal-based National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases NIHSAD A district-level control room headed by deputy director Animal Husbandry Department Dr SV Kosarwal was also set up and people were asked to inform about the death of birds immediately the official said Meanwhile Additional Chief Secretary MP Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department JN Kansotiya issued directives to the districts especially the bordering ones to monitor the situation and immediately attend to any complaint related to the unnatural death of birds Migratory birds play a major role in spreading bird flu during the winter Therefore keep a special watch on the migratory birds coming to the water bodies and sanctuaries of the state Kansotiya said He directed officials to collect the samples of migratory birds and from the chicken markets in the districts bordering other states and send them to the laboratory for testing H5N8 is a subtype of the influenza A virus and is believed to be highly lethal to wild birds and poultry PTI ADU NSK NSK
