New Delhi Apr 26 PTI India on Tuesday called on developed nations to enhance their commitments ahead of the next climate summit COP27 to be held later this year Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said soduring a meeting with Aminath Shauna Minister of Environment Climate Change and Technology Republic of Maldiveswhere he discussed about issues relating to vulnerabilities of climate change cooperation on climate actions and follow-up to the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties COP26 in Glasgow Scotland During the meeting he underlined the need for developed countries to enhance commitments ahead of COP27 including on climate finance and technology support adaptation finance provisions etc Yadav appreciated the climate actions taken by Maldives and stressed the importance of concrete actions on adaptation in tackling climate change After the meeting Yadav tweeted that India and Maldives discussed issues related to the dangers posed by climate change We should join hands to fight climate change to ensure climate justice to all especially to the developing countries he said Yadav emphasised that concrete actions are necessary to implement the Glasgow Climate Pact or COP26 However implementation of climate actions by developing countries is contingent to adequate delivery of climate finance technology transfer and other implementation support from the developed countries he said India and Maldives agreed to further strengthen ongoing bilateral cooperation between the countries not only for combatting environmental issues and climate change but also to enhance cooperation for greater economic integration the environment ministry said in a statement PTI AG RCJ

Jaipur Apr 26 PTI The Rajasthan government has suspended two senior officials of Rajgarh municipality in Alwar following a backlash over the demolition of two temples as part of an anti-encroachment drive to widen a road in the municipal town Rajgarh Municipality chairman Satish Duharia and executive officer Banwari Lal Meena have been suspended an official order said on Monday Rajgarh is a BJP-run municipality According to the order of the Local Self Government Department a preliminary inquiry was done in the matter of removal of various construction work in Rajgarh municipality area on April 17It was found that municipality chairman Satish Duharia behaved against the law The department had decided to conduct a judicial inquiry into the matter and since the allegations against Duharia have been found to be prima facie true he is suspended from the post of chairman and member of the municipality with immediate effect the order readSimilarly according to another order of the department Banwari Lal Meena the executive officer of the municipality has also been suspended from the post after being found guilty of dereliction of duty and unlawful conductThe Congress-led state government had also suspended sub-divisional officer of Rajgarh Alwar Keshav Kumar Meena RAS on MondayReacting on the suspension order BJP state president Satish Poonia said Truth is not defeated To hide the mistakes of the government and its officers the Congress which once accused the BJP board in Rajgarh has finally taken action against the guilty officers People know on whose behest the temples were demolished and whose immoral thinking was implemented by the officials PTI AG SRY

Jaipur Apr 19 PTI Members of the Dalit community in Rajasthans Bharatpur took out a protest march on Tuesday alleging that a rally held to mark the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar was pelted with stones by those belonging to a dominant caste They also threatened to migrate from their villages if justice denied to them The members of the Dalit community held placards and brought their cattle to the protest march The alleged incident had taken place on April 14 the birth anniversary of the Dalit icon They alleged that members of the Gurjar community thrashed with sticks people who took part in the April 14 rally injuring nine people They pelted the rally with stones the protesters alleged and submitted a memorandum to the district collector Bharatpur District Collector Alok Ranjan said a complaint was registered in this regard against nine people The other side had also lodged an FIR on April 16 alleging attack by members of the Dalit community Till now three accused have been arrested and efforts are on to nab the others he said ASP Chandra Prakash Sharma said the protest march was taken out till the Bharatpur collectors office We assured them of fair investigation but they are demanding that the complaint lodged by the other group be quashed which is not possible he said PTI AG RDK

Jaipur Apr 19 PTI A special court here has sentenced two men to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for trafficking of minors A court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences POCSO Act on April 16 also imposed a fine of Rs 564 lakh on each of the culprit Mohammed Qudus and Mohammed Yunus Special judge Tara Agarwal observed that both the accused had violated the rights of the children and forced them into child labour Another accused Mohammed Shamshad died during the trial and hence charges against him were abated while Hasmul Miyan was acquitted as per the court order received on Tuesday Physical and mental cruelty towards children and forcing them into child labour was a heinous offence Public Prosecutor Rakesh Mehrishi said In 2018 Bachpan Bachao Andolan BBA activists along with the police and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit haD conducted a raid on a house in Shastri Nagar Jaipur and rescued 33 minor children The rescued children were trafficked from Bihar and were forced to work An FIR was registered against the four accused under various sections of the IPC Juvenile Justice Act and Child Labour ActBBA Director Manish Sharma said that stringent punishment is the only deterrent for such heinous crimes We hope that the union government passes the anti-trafficking bill in the upcoming session of the Parliament he added PTI AG RCJ
