Jaipur Feb 20 PTI Police shifted the body of a 35-year-old gang rape victim from Sawai Man Singh Hospital mortuary here to Deedwana of Nagaur district in early hours on Sunday amid protests by her family members for compensation Her family members had earlier refused to take the body The body has been shifted to a government hospital mortuary in Nagaurs Deedwana The kin of the women and members of some social organisations protested the shifting alleging that police acted in a dictatorial and barbaric manner Around 3 am on Sunday 200 to 300 policemen acted in a dictatorial and barbaric manner and shifted the body from Jaipur to Deedwana Geejraj Jodli one of the protesters said Deedwana Circle Officer Gomaram Chaudhary said the body was shifted to Deedwana in early hours on Sunday and talks are being held with the victims family over their demands He said an an autopsy was conducted at the Jaipur hospital The woman was raped on February 4 and left injured near a dry pond in Nagaurs Deedwana from where she was rescued six days after the incident She was taken to a local hospital there from where she was referred to the SMS Hospital where she died on February 17 Meanwhile BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena demanded Rs 50 lakh compensation and a government job to a kin of the woman and said the police action was unjustified The Rajasthan Police forcibly removed family members who were protesting to seek justice for the Deedwana gang rape victim I strongly oppose it Meena alleged He alleged that the victims family members were canecharged during the shifting of the body and demanded the arrest of police officers for negligence Earlier the authorities had suspended Deedwana police station SHO Narendra Jakhar and head constable Prahlad Singh for negligence in the case The accused in the case have been arrested PTI AG RDK RDK

Jaipur Jan 18 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said strong law and order in the state and effective prevention of crime is the top priority for his government and police officers should work in this direction with full readiness and sensitivity Gehlot said this during a review meeting of the Home Department on Tuesday He said police should investigate every crime thoroughly in the shortest possible time and the victim should get justice at the earliest Police should do their work without any pressure and with fairness and positive thinking he said He said with the aim of making police functioning in the state modern and public friendly steps like reception rooms in police stations creation of the post of additional superintendent of police in every district have been taken The chief minister said as a result of the steps taken in cases of crime against women the average time taken for disposal of cases has come down considerably The number of pending cases has come down from 125 per cent to 93 per cent due to the special investigation units constituted under additional superintendent of police in the districts he said The investigation time taken in rape cases has come down from 211 days to 86 days he said He said the investigation time should be further reduced so that the victim gets justice at the earliest He said there should be no negligence regarding crime against women Gehlot expressed satisfaction that while working towards effective prevention of crime against women criminals in 510 cases of the POCSO Act were punished in 2021 Gehlot said it is satisfactory that the policy of compulsory FIR registration has yielded better results in the state In 2018 over 30 per cent of rape cases were registered through courts but now their number has come down to 16 per cent which shows that the policy has been successful PTI AG RDK RDK

Jaipur Dec 19 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday inaugurated and laid foundation stones of projects worth over Rs 1100 crore and claimed that his government in the past three years implemented welfare schemes focusing on education health and social security He said the state government focused on the sectors so that the deprived and the poor could be connected with the mainstream Gehlot said this addressing an event on the completion of three years of his government in the state He inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 1194 development works worth about Rs 1122 crore The CM also launched a Jan Kalyan mobile app and released the mascot communication strategy booklet and poster of the Udan Yojana He said there will be no shortage of funds for the Udan Yojna launched by the state government for the distribution of free sanitary napkins to girls and women The state government has made a provision of Rs 200 crore for the first phase of the scheme Gehlot said the policy of mandatory FIR registration has yielded positive results Earlier about 33 per cent of the rape cases were registered through the courts Now the figure has come down to 15 per cent he said Gehlot said with the creation of ASP-level posts in every district for speedy investigation of crimes against women the average time of investigation in rape cases has come down from 274 to 73 days The CM said his government is also organising Rural Olympic Games at a cost of Rs 50 crore The child mortality rate in the state has come down significantly due to efforts of the state government he claimed PTI AG RDK RDK

Jaipur Oct 26 PTI A teacher of a private school here was booked for allegedly outraging the modesty of a girl student police said on Tuesday The teacher was also suspended by the school which has decided to get the matter investigated by a fact-finding committee These accusations are of serious nature and are in violation of the service rules a notice from the school management said adding that based on the complaint the teacher is being suspended The girl had last Saturday met DCP South Harendra Mahawar with a complaint against the teacher The case was registered at the Ashok Nagar police station on Monday The girl alleged that the teacher molested her in 2018-19 but she could muster the courage to report the matter only now after a teacher was recently booked for sending obscene messages to schoolchildren and later arrested PTI AG RDK RDK

Jaipur Oct 23 PTI A turnout of around 5746 per cent was registered in the second phase of the panchayat samiti and zila parishad polls in Dholpur and Alwar districts of Rajasthan on Saturday a spokesperson of the State Election Commission said Highest 6298 per cent polling was recorded in Govindgarh panchayat State Election Commissioner P S Mehra said 973 lakh people were eligible to vote in both districts and 1312 polling stations were set up The elections for Alwar and Dholpur zila parishad and panchayat samiti members are being conducted in three phases The first phase of polling was held on October 20 in which 6424 per cent voter turnout was registered and the third phase will be held on October 26 Counting of votes will be done at district headquarters on October 29 PTI AG RDK RDK
