Delhi records 501 fresh Covid cases positivity rate jumps to 772 pc no fatality

New Delhi Apr 18 PTI Delhis COVID-19 positivity rate on Monday jumped to 772 per cent even as the city recorded 501 fresh cases 16 less than the previous day according to health department data Officials said that last time the positivity rate was above seven per cent in the city on January 29 74 per cent and on January 28 86 per cent Barring Sunday Delhi has been witnessing an upward trend in daily COVID-19 cases positivity rate in the last few days Despite less tests the positivity rate in the city on Monday rose to 772 per cent The national capital on Sunday recorded a 421 per cent positivity rateA total of 6492 COVID-19 tests were conducted the previous day the bulletin stated on Monday However Sundays health bulletin had stated that a total of 12270 COVID-19 tests were conducted the previous day According to data provided by city health department the positivity rate in last one week between April 10 and April 18 have increased by six times The positivity rate on April 10 was 129 per cent with 141 cases which rose to 772 per cent on Monday with 501 fresh COVID-19 cases With the new cases the citys infection tally has risen to 1869051 while the death toll stood at 26160 as no new fatality was reported The city had on Sunday recorded 517 Covid cases with no deaths On Saturday 461 Covid cases and two deaths were reported in Delhi while the positivity rate was 533 per cent On Friday Delhi had logged 366 COVID-19 cases and zero death while the positivity rate was 395 per cent The number of patients under home isolation have also increased as there were 1188 covid patients under home isolation while on Sunday this number was 964 There are 9735 beds for COVID-19 patients in Delhi hospitals and 81 083 per cent of them are occupied the bulletin said The bulletin added that as on date there were 623 containment zones across the city The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi had touched the record high of 28867 on January 13 this year during the third wave of the pandemic The city had recorded a positivity rate of 306 per cent on January 14 the highest during the third wave of the pandemic which was largely driven by the highly transmissible Omicron variant of coronavirus PTI AKM RCJ

Delhi govt extends validity of learners licenses till May 31

New Delhi Mar 24 PTI Delhi Transport Department has extended the validity of learners driving licenses expiring on March 31 by two months till May 31 2022 Delhis Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot announced the development and said it is the final opportunity for people to get their learners licenses renewed Those Learners License whose validity is going to expire by March 31 has been extended for a period of 2 months ie up to May 31 Pls note that this is the last and final opportunity Gahlot said in a tweet He also attached a picture of the order issued by his department in this connection The order issued by the Transport Department on Thursday said that the validity of driving learners licenses has been extended from time to time because driving skill test and new appointments for the test were suspended in pursuance of Delhi Disaster Management Authority DDMA guidelines to contain COVID-19 spread It has come to notice that several learners license holders which were declared valid between February 1 2020 and March 31 2022 due to extended validity on account of pandemic situation have not yet got the skill test appointments and there are many more applicants than the available driving skill test slots Therefore the validity of those learners license issued by this department whose validity going to expire by March 31 2022 is further extended as a final opportunity for a period of two months ie upto May 31 2022 the order issued by the department said The order further said that the last extension for validity of driving learners license was given up to March 31 2022 in January this year PTI AKM RCJ
