New Delhi Apr 26 PTI A fire broke out at a shop and spread to other stores in Amar Colonys main market in Lajpat Nagar of southeast Delhi on Tuesday Delhi Fire Officials said No injuries due to the fire were reported they said A call about the fire was received at 240 pm a senior fire official said Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg saidThe fire started from a shop on the ground floor and spread to other stores and a restaurant The fire also spread to the residence and an office on the first floor of the building A total of 10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was extinguished by 420 pm and the cooling process was undertaken he said The Amar Colony market is one of the most crowded shopping centres for clothes and furniture among other things PTI AMP CK

New Delhi Jan 25 PTI A 40-year-old man was killed allegedly after an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle in southwest Delhis Safdarjung Encalve area police said on Tuesday The deceased was identified as Anup Bhatt a resident of Dayalpur who worked with a private firm here they said The accident took place on January 20 police said adding they were informed about a man lying unconscious near a flyover at Safdarjung Enclave area On reaching the spot the man was found lying unconscious but there were no apparent injury marks on his body His motorcycle which did not sustain much damage was found lying next to him a senior police officer said He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead the police officer said adding a post-mortem was conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death The post-mortem report revealed that he died due to internal bleeding and based on circumstances and autopsy report a case was registered in the matter the officer said All the CCTV cameras installed in and around the scene of crime is being scanned to identify the offending vehicle police said adding efforts are underway to nab the culprit PTI AMP CK

New Delhi Nov 17 PTI An unidentified man was found hanging from a ceiling fan at a police booth in southeast Delhis Sarita Vihar on Wednesday morning police said The man was aged around 30 and no suicide note was recovered from the spot they said Deputy Commissioner of Police Southeast Esha Pandey said that at about 845 am Constable Bharat informed the Sarita Vihar police station that a man was found hanging at the police booth of Madanpur Khaddar When our staff rushed to the spot a man aged about 30 was found hanging from the ceiling fan of the booth The door of the booth was found locked from inside The person was rushed to AIIMS where he was declared brought dead she said The police booth was locked by staff after finishing their duty The key was kept on window sill The victim found it and entered the booth she added No visible injury was found on physical examination of the body police said adding the body has been preserved and efforts are being made to trace the identity of the deceased PTI AMP CK
New Delhi Oct 26 PTI The body of a 25-year-old man was found hanging inside a room at an empty plot in south Delhis Neb Sarai area on Tuesday police said The deceased Sameer Khan a resident of Sangam Vihar area used to work as a driver earlier but had been unemployed for some months and was looking for a job they said Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide but no suicide note was recovered from the spot and the exact cause of death will be ascertained only through a post-mortem examination whose report is awaited His family told police during inquiry that Khan had left his home on Monday morning in search of a job but did not return till late evening and he could not be contacted on his mobile phone either said a senior police officer After an extensive search the family found Khans body hanging inside a room at an empty plot on Tuesday morning The room did not have a proper structure nor a door and open window the officer said Deputy Commissioner of Police South Benita Mary Jaiker said no injury or strangulation marks were found on the body Some drugs and a syringe were recovered from the spot which was also inspected by the police team The body was shifted to the AIIMS for post-mortem police said adding further probe is underway PTI AMP CK
New Delhi Sep 29 PTI The Delhi Police has issued over three lakh challans mostly for not wearing face masks so far between April 19 and September 28 this year for violation of various COVID-19-related guidelines officials said on Wednesday According to the latest data shared by the Delhi Police300692 challans have been issued for such violations since the announcement of lockdown in the national capital on April 19 The data showed that of the total challans so far a maximum of 265258were issued for violation of the mask rule followed by29982for not adhering to social distancing norms and2365 for consumption of liquor pan gutkha tobacco etc Another1624 challans were issued for spitting and 1463 for holding large public gatherings and congregations the data stated The unlock process began in Delhi in a phased manner with the government allowing construction and manufacturing activities from May 31 In following weeks markets malls metro trains restaurants and bars and many other activities were allowed PTI AMP CK
New Delhi Sep 21 PTI A 23-year-old woman who attempted suicide more than a week ago in west Delhis Punjabi Bagh area succumbed at a hospital here police said on Tuesday The woman had attempted suicide on September 10 and according to her family she allegedly consumed a poisonous substance they said No suicide note or any poisonous substance was found at the spot police said She was admitted to the Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar and was later shifted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where she died during the course of her treatment on the night of September 19 according to the police Her family members alleged that she committed suicide due to a man with whom she was suspected to be in a relationship a senior police officer said adding that no written statement has been given by the family in this matter During inquiry it was found that the person named by the victims family is married and that no complaint was made against him earlier by the woman or any of her family members the officer said Deputy Commissioner of Police West Urvija Goel said the body was handed over to police after post-mortem and an inquiry is in progress PTI AMP CK
