Guwahati Feb 25 PTI Assam on Friday registered a dip in new COVID-19 cases as 18 more people tested positive for the infection 14 less than the previous day pushing the tally to 724088 the National Health Mission NHM said The COVID-19 death toll rose to 6638 as one more person succumbed to the disease it said adding that 1347 Covid positive patients have died for other reasons Kamrup Metropolitan district which primarily comprises Guwahati city reported 12 fresh cases against 14 infections on the previous day It has recorded a total of 156982 infections so far The NHM said that the number of recoveries increased by over 28 per cent to 73 persons on Friday from 57 people on Thursday Assam currently has 263 active COVID-19 cases while 715840 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered from the disease The overall positivity rate stands at 256 per cent against total testing of 28298472 samples so far The NHM further said a total of 43216884 doses of vaccines have been administered This includes 23379404 first doses 19582595 second doses and 254885 precaution doses PTI TR RG RG

Guwahati Feb 22 PTI Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday asked the health department to take measures for online booking in out patient departments of medical colleges and hospitals in the state He also directed streamlining the process for applying online for medical bill reimbursement of state government employees on official release said Sarma issued the instructions during a review of various programmes of the health department Key issues related to Assam Secondary Healthcare Systems Reforms Project status of the State Cancer Institute at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and draft of Employees Health Assured Scheme were also discussed in the meeting it said He directed that steps should be taken for setting up 50 bedded hospitals under PM Ayushmaan Bharat Abhiyaan at five locations across Assam besides a 100 bed hospital at Sualkuchi a mother and child care hospital at Tamulpur and high quality GNM Nursing School as part of district hospital infrastructure under the same project To make health delivery system hassle free Sarma asked for opening green corridor of emergency cases with space for parking besides steps for online booking for OPD at medical colleges the release said He also reviewed the progress of ongoing construction works of five district hospitals at newly created districts While discussing various steps taken at State Cancer Institute GMCH under National Programme for prevention and control of cancer diabetes cardiovascular diseases and stroke the chief minister approved the utilisation plan of the first instalment of fund received from the Centre He also gave directions for prompt utilisation of fund to be released under second and third instalments it said Reviewing the draft for implementation of Employees Health Assured Scheme Sarma directed introduction of portal-based submission of medical bills for government servants including the retired employees He also directed to end the empanelled hospital system to make the new mechanism more conducive Under the new mechanism there will be a single admissibility board headed by the CEO of Atal Amrit Abhiyaan Society The CEOs office will take steps for verification and other necessary procedures for release of admissible amount in a faceless manner with high end technological intervention the release said The chief minister asked the department to develop a portal and prepare appropriate guidelines to ensure seamless experience for government servants the release added PTI SSG KK KK KK

Kolkata Feb 22 PTI Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited NRL has collaborated with a Finnish company to manufacture ethanol out of bamboo a top company official said on Tuesday Speaking at a CII event virtually managing director of NRL Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan said the company has invested heavily in a bio-ethanol plant We have tied up with a Finnish firm to manufacture ethanol out of bamboo Bamboo will be procured from the farmers and the plant can be a back-up supplier of oil marketing companies in the northeast for blending motor spirit with ethanol Phukan said The MD said to reduce carbon emissions the company is trying to get out of captive power generation and get connected to the grid for which it has do a power purchase agreement with a green power producer He said that India needs to get out of volatility of the crude prices According to him since the northeast has plenty of water hydrogen can be locally produced and be used as green fuel He said there is a need to monetise gas reserves lying underneath and also storing of carbon dioxide in dead wells and reservoirs PTI dc RG RG

Guwahati Oct 31 PTI Assam on Sunday reported 212 fresh COVID-19 cases 71 less than the previous day with the caseload in the northeastern state rising to 610645 a National Health Mission NHM bulletin said The death toll rose to 5997 as one more person from Nagaon succumbed to the disease it said Of the new cases 96 were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan 26 from Barpeta 18 from Lakhimpur and 14 from Jorhat The daily positivity rate stands at 141 per cent up from the previous days 071 per cent as the new cases were detected from 15060 sample tests the NHM bulletin said At least 236 people were cured of the disease during the day taking the total number of recoveries to 600974 it said The recovery rate among coronavirus patients currently stands at 9842 per cent Assam now has 2327 active cases the bulletin said At least 1347 COVID positive patients have died in the state due to other ailments Over 282 crore beneficiaries have been inoculated with 8067 lakh having received both doses of the vaccines it added PTI ESB BDC BDC

Guwahati Oct 28 PTI Assam on Thursday again crossed 300 single-day infections with the state reporting 322 fresh COVID-19 cases pushing the tally to 609828 National Health Mission bulletin said The state had reported 244 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday The new cases were reported out of 39629 tests on Monday the bulletin said Kamrup Metro reported the highest number of new cases at 241 After reporting over 300 fresh cases for five days in a row the state had reported 139 cases on Sunday However it went up to 326 on Monday and 347 on Tuesday While six people had died of the disease on Wednesday two persons succumbed to the infection during the day taking the death toll to 5989 The number of COVID-19 patients dying of other causes remained at 1347 The positivity rate rose to 081 per cent from 064 per cent on Wednesday the bulletin said There are 2403 active cases in Assam at present it said Till now 600089 people have recovered from the disease in the state including 408 in the last 24 hours Meanwhile the cumulative total beneficiaries vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines in the state so far is 27809461 including 7756949 who have received both doses PTI ESB MM MM

Guwahati Oct 25 PTI Assam on Monday again crossed 300 single-day infections with the state reporting 326 fresh COVID-19 cases pushing the tally to 608915 according to the bulletin of the National Health Mission After maintaining a five-day streak of over 300 fresh cases daily Assam had reported 139 cases on Sunday The daily caseload had been below 300 since October 8 before breaching it on October 19 after a gap of 11 days The new cases were detected out of 50253 samples on Monday The positivity rate came down to 065 per cent from 071 per cent on Sunday the bulletin said Five more coronavirus deaths were registered during the day taking the COVID-19 death toll to 5978 The number of COVID-19 patients dying due to other reasons remained at 1347 Among the new cases detected on Monday 104 are from Kamrup Metro district 34 from Barpeta 21 from Sivasagar and 17 from Lakhimpur Two COVID-19 deaths were reported from Kamrup Metro and one each from Dibrugarh Lakhimpur and Nalbari Altogether 296 coronavirus patients recuperated from the infection in the last 24 hours taking the number of recovered patients so far to 599055 with a recovery rate of 9838 per cent The active cases in the state are 2535 the bulletin said Meanwhile the cumulative total beneficiaries vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines in the state so far is 27294413 which include 19931906 receiving the first dose and 7362507 both doses PTI ESB MM MM
