Mumbai Apr 26 PTI The Chandiwal Commission probing corruption allegations against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh submitted its report to state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday The Maharashtra government had formed the single-member commission headed by Justice K U Chandiwal retired in March last year the conduct a probe into the corruption allegations levelled against Deshmukh by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh During the nearly year-long probe the commission recorded the statements of Deshmukh dismissed police officer Sachin Waze and others Singh had appeared before the commission once after multiple summons The former Mumbai police chief through multiple affidavits told the commission that he had nothing more to share other than the information he provided in his letter to the chief minister Singh was the Mumbai police commissioner when an explosives-laden SUV was found parked near industrialist Mukesh Ambanis residence Antilia in south Mumbai in February 2021 Singh who was transferred from the police commissioners post in March last year in the aftermath of a Antilia bomb scare had alleged that Deshmukh asked police officers to collect Rs 100 crore every month from bars and restaurants in the city The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI and the Enforcement Directorate ED are also probing the allegations made against Deshmukh by Singh Deshmukh who resigned from the post of state home minister in April 2021 was arrested by the ED in November last year in connection with a money laundering case He is currently in judicial custody PTI AVI GK GK

Mumbai Dec 21 PTI An inquiry commission conducting a probe into corruption allegations against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh imposed a cost of Rs 50000 on him on Tuesday for seeking an adjournment into the matter As the matter came up for hearing a junior lawyer from Deshmukhs legal team sought the adjournment saying the senior counsel could not be present before the commission as he was busy with some other matter The commission as a last chance adjourned the matter till 1230 pm on Wednesday It also imposed a cost of Rs 50000 on the NCP leader and directed that it be deposited in the Chief Ministers COVID-19 Relief Fund The commission had earlier this month also imposed a cost of Rs 15000 on Deshmukh for seeking adjournment The Maharashtra government had formed the Justice K U Chandiwal Commission in March this year the conduct a probe into the corruption allegations levelled against Deshmukh by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh Dismissed police officer Sachin Waze is currently deposing before the single-member commission Singh who was transferred from the post of Mumbai police commissioner in March in the aftermath of a bomb scare near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani had alleged that Deshmukh asked police officers to collect Rs 100 crore in a month from bars and restaurants in the city The Central Bureau of Investigation CBI and the Enforcement Directorate ED are also probing the allegations made against Deshmukh by Singh Deshmukh who resigned from the post of state home minister in April this year had been arrested by the ED in connection with a money laundering case He is currently in judicial custody PTI AVI GK GK

Mumbai Nov 30 PTI Former Maharashtra home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Tuesday appeared before a commission probing corruption allegations levelled against him by former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh Deshmukh who was earlier arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case is currently in judicial custody On Friday special PMLA court judge H S Satbhai had allowed Deshmukhs production warrant for appearance before the Justice K U Chandiwal Commission The Maharashtra government had in March this year formed the single-member commission of Justice Chandiwal retired to probe the allegations of corruption levelled by Param Bir Singh against the then state home minister and NCP leader Deshmukh Singh who was transferred from the post of Mumbai police commissioner in March in the aftermath of the Antilia bomb scare episode had alleged that Deshmukh asked police officers to collect Rs 100 crore a month from bars and restaurants in the city The Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate are probing the allegations made against Deshmukh by the senior IPS officer PTI AVI GK GK
