Aurangabad Apr 22 PTI Some miscreants hurled stones at Secunderabad-Mumbai Devagiri Express train after it was held up due to signal failure near a railway station in Maharashtras Aurangabad district in the wee hours of Friday police said After the train came under attack a woman passenger tried to close a window of her bogie but in the process her gold chain was snatched by someone standing outside they said The incident occurred near Potul station located between Aurangabad and Daulatabad stations the police said adding that they later found that the wire of the railway signal was cut due to which the train could not get green signal and was held up The Secunderabad-Mumbai Devagiri Express 17058 was detained for about 35 minutes after it failed to get green signal from 12 am to 1230 am Soon stones were pelted at the train from outside A gold chain of a woman passenger from S-4 coach was snatched by an unidentified person from outside when she tried to close the window due to stone-pelting said Mokshada Patil Superintendent of Police of the Government Railway Police GRP This woman was travelling to Dadar after boarding the train at Nizamabad in neighbouring Telangana state she said An offence was registered at Manmad railway police station in Nashik district and the case was transferred to Aurangabad Railway police the official added At Manmad railway station the GRP asked the passengers to report whether they have suffered any damage or losses during the incident Accordingly one woman complained about her gold chain being snatched Patil said During the probe conducted so far it was found that the wire of the railway signal was cut she said Police have launched a search in the nearby villages including Vaghalgao Khadak Narala Shinde Shirasgaon to nab the accused involved in the incident however nobody has been caught so far PTI AW NP NP

Maha Over 3400 rare manuscripts in 5 languages 11 scripts await conservation in Aurangabad varsity

Aurangabad Apr 21 PTI As many as 3414 rare manuscripts written in five languages and 11 scripts and which run into over eight lakh pages await conservation in a city-based university an official said on Thursday These manuscripts are in the custody of the Knowledge Resource Centre KRC of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University he said Rare 3414 manuscripts containing over eight lakh pages are yet to be conserved This rare material written in five languages and 11 scripts can be made available to scholars amateurs and further generations if it is conserved in time KRCs director Dr Dharmaraj Veer told PTI These manuscripts are very old and the pages of some of them are now stuck to each other he said In order to digitise these rare documents we first need to conserve them There are 19 pictorial manuscripts 39 royal charters 92 engraved inscriptions 18 Marathi engraved inscriptions 48 antiquities and 3198 other manuscripts Veer added The manuscripts are mainly related to Warkari and Mahanubhav sects of Hinduism and date back to the period between 15th and 19th centuries These manuscripts reflect the social cultural and historical life of those times he said The manuscripts are written in Marathi Punjabi Sanskrit Urdu and Hindi They are in Modi Sundari Subhadra and Ank scripts among others Most of this material is not published and hence it holds a literary significance the official added We had earlier sent a proposal for the conservation of these manuscripts to our university and other institutions But nothing happened on that front so far We have a plan to conserve and digitise these manuscripts and to develop an art gallery for this rare material But this entire exercise would cost nearly Rs 462 crore Veer said Caretaker of these manuscripts Chakradhar Koti said This is a precious material and should be maintained for people so that they can study it The topics of these manuscripts are different and contain material related to Mahanubhav sect saint literature ayurveda astrology mathematics etc This material should be conserved in a scientific manner PTI AW NP NP

Aurangabad Feb 18 PTI BJP leader and former Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde has expressed concern over the declining sex ratio particularly in Beed district of the state In a video tweet the BJP secretary said Since 2009 I have been working with NGOs with the aim of improving the sex ratio at birth in Beed district When I got the women and child welfare portfolio in the previous government the first scheme that was rolled out was for improving the female birth ratio The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques PCPNDT Act is not being implemented effectively in the district which is leading to the decline in the female birth ratio which was 961 earlier per 1000 males Munde who hails from Beed said People should work together and make efforts together to improve the sex ratio she said Talking to PTI Beed district civil surgeon Dr Suresh Sable said The female child birth ratio of the district was 797 in 2011-12 while it was 928 in December 2021 We take a review of all the centres related to child birth every three months and if we find any anomaly we take strict action PTI AW NP NP

Aurangabad Dec 23 PTI The Aurangabad civic body in Maharashtra has shut one of the city-based schools for a few days after its teacher from the primary section tested positive for coronavirus an official said on Thursday The teacher from the primary section of Saraswati Bhuwan School tested positive for the infection on December 21 Hence as a precautionary measure it was decided that the school shall remain shut till Monday December 27 the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation AMC official said The teacher has mild symptoms and is home-quarantined The RT-PCR test of those who came in his contact were conducted by the administration As a precautionary measure we have shut the school till Monday AMCs deputy commissioner Santosh Tengle told PTI Education officer Ramnath Thode said We have collected over 300 swabs from the school The reports are awaited now PTI AW NP NP

Aurangabad Nov 25 PTI With the district administration giving a call for no vaccine no fuel to increase the COVID-19 vaccination among people the Petroleum Dealers Association PDA of Aurangabad has decided to curtail the timing of their petrol pumps from Thursday so that the night shift staff can be used during the day for this exercise The decision was taken in view of the shortage of manpower at petrol pumps an office-bearer of the association said in a press release on Wednesday The district collector of Aurangabad had recently issued an order to the petrol dealers to check the vaccination certificates of the people visiting the pumps to fill fuel in vehicles As part of the exercise no fuel will be given to the unvaccinated people starting November 25 The PDA said that although it has decided to support this initiative the timing of the outlets will be curtailed so that the entire manpower can be used during the day for this exercise The petrol outlets in the district will supply fuel to customers from 8 am to 7 pm This has been decided as the outlets will need additional manpower for checking the vaccination certificates the PDA office-bearer said in the statement Talking to PTI PDA secretary Aqeel Abbas said We shall deploy during the day the manpower that we earlier used late at night to handle the customers The vehicles in emergency service can go to the company outlets to fill fuel besides those pumps operated by the local governing bodies and the police department PTI AW NP NP
