Aurangabad Feb 27 PTI Though the curve of the third COVID-19 wave almost flattened the decision regarding the face mask rule will be taken carefully Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Sunday Topes comments come a day after Maharashtra reported 893 COVID-19 cases and eight fatalities due to the infection The peak of the third wave had seen 48000 cases per day in Maharashtra Now the number of fresh cases is not even ten per cent as compared with the peak The number of active cases is around 9000 now Tope told reporters in Jalna When asked about further relaxation of COVID-19 norms including doing away with the face mask rule Tope said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is constantly saying that we cannot assume that that COVID pandemic is over So the decision on mask liberty will be taken after careful consideration The Maharashtra government had on Tuesday stressed the need to continue to observe COVID-appropriate behaviour like wearing of masks maintaining social distancing and frequently sanitising hands though it withdrew the orders issued on separate dates in July and August 2021 and the SOP dated August 10 PTI AW NSK NSK
Aurangabad Jan 31 PTI AIMIM MP Imtiyaz Jaleel on Monday criticised the Maharashtra government for allowing the sale of wine at supermarkets and grocery shops and said that such facilities will be vandalised if they are allowed to open in Aurangabad district Addressing a press conference Jaleel questioned the rationale behind the wine sale decision and said if the state government is genuinely concerned about farmers then permission should be given for cultivating cannabis Instead of wine the government could have supported milk bars and encouraged people to drink it so that farmers would have benefited But this government is only concerned about money This decision to allow the sale of wine in shops will ruin our culture said Jaleel who also heads the Maharashtra unit of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen AIMIM Jaleel said that he wont allow such wine bars to function in Aurangabad I challenge Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and all the three ruling parties to dare to open even one such wine bar in Aurangabad I appeal to women to vandalise such shops If anyone thinks of opening it we will break that shop he added PTI AW NSK NSK
Aurangabad Jan 26 PTI Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray will address a meeting on the development of tourism during his two-day tour of Aurangabad beginning Wednesday and also visit various projects an official said Thackeray who holds Tourism and Environment ministries will visit the world-famous Ajanta and Ellora caves during his stay in the Marathwada city On Wednesday evening he will visit the Kham river bank to examine the river rejuvenation project undertaken by the local governing body and other stakeholders The minister will also dedicate various projects undertaken by the Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation and the city civic body the official said The minister will chair a meeting on tourism development in the office of the Divisional Commissioner PTI AW NSK NSK
Aurangabad Jan 19 PTI The Congress has won a majority of seats in three nagar panchayats in Nanded ditstrict and four nagar panchayats in Latur district of Maharashtra results for which were declared on Wednesday The Supreme Court on December 6 stayed till further orders the local body elections in Maharashtra on seats reserved for the OBCs The apex court later directed the State Election Commission SEC to notify 27 per cent of seats in the local bodies which were reserved for the Other Backward Classes OBCs as a general category so that the poll process can be taken forward In Nandeds Naygaon nagar panchayat Congress has won all 17 seats The BJP won three and 14 seats in Nanded and Latur respectively an official said In Nanded voting was held for 51 seats in three nagar pancyats of Mahur Ardhapur and Naygaon Of these seats Congress bagged 33 seats After winning all 17 seats in Naygaon nagar panchayat and ten out of 17 seats in Ardhapur Congress secured an absolute majority The BJP won two seats in Ardhapur the official said In Mahur nagar panchayat out of 17 seats six are bagged by Congress seven by the NCP and three by Shiv Sena The BJP won one seat he added In Latur voting took place for 68 seats in four nagar panchayats 17 seats each In Latur BJP and NCP won 14 seats each The Congress won the highest 23 seats Shiv Sena and Prahar won six seats each Four seats went to Independent candidates Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh and former chief minister Ashok Chavan both from Congress represent Latur and Nanded districts in the MVA government PTI AW NSK NSK
