Bhopal Jan 25 PTI The home of a Dalit bridegroom was pelted with stones and ransacked allegedly by a section of local residents in a village in Madhya Pradeshs Sagar district after he took out a wedding procession in an act seen as defiance against tradition police officials said on TuesdayPolice have arrested six persons in connection with the attack on the house of the groom in village Ganiyari under Banda Police Station limits of the district some 200-km from the state capital Bhopal in the Bundelkhand region on Sunday an official saidAdditional Superintendent of Police ASP Vikram Singh said some villagers allegedly pelted stones and ransacked the house of the groomFollowing a complaint 20 persons were booked under provisions of the SCST Prevention of Atrocities Act and the Indian Penal Code IPC and six of them were arrested while some others are being interrogated he saidMeanwhile Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Tuesday said in Bhopal the police had received a complaint in which the complainant had expressed apprehension that some villagers may stop the groom from taking out marriage processionOn getting information the police reached the spot and a procession which is called rachh in local language was taken out The marriage procession then left for Katni brides hometown Later some people allegedly pelted stones at the grooms home he saidMishra said police personnel have been posted in the village to maintain law and order and six accused arrested after the complaintDilip Ahirwar the groom alleged that members of his community are not allowed to take out a marriage procession in the villageHe broke this tradition and this angered some villagers Ahirwar claimedThe bridegroom said the marriage procession was eventually taken out with help of the police and Bhim Army workersHe said later in the evening his house was vandalized PTI COR ADU RSY RSY

Bhopal Oct 23 PTI Border districts of Madhya Pradesh have been severely hit by the hike in fuel prices with the cost of petrol in Anuppur district crossing Rs 119 per litre and diesel touching around Rs 108 per litre on Saturday The price of petrol in Jaithari about 13 km from the district headquarter Anuppur was recorded at 11922 per litre and diesel was at Rs 1084 per litre said Sukhlal Kushwaha a pump owner Petrol is cheaper by around Rs 10 and diesel by Rs 4 per litre in the neighbouring state of Chhattisgarh which is about 50 km from Anuppur he said The prices of petrol and diesel in Balaghat district which shares its borders with Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh has reached Rs 11825 per litre and Rs 10746 per litre respectively petrol pump owner Amar Singh Narde said The district recorded a hike of 26 paise on petrol and 37 paise on diesel on Saturday he said The fuel business is hit badly in Balaghat as most vehicles prefer to get refuel in Maharashtra or Chhattisgarh The petrol and diesel in Maharashtra are cheaper by Rs 7 and Rs 4 per litre respectively Narde said Meanwhile the petrol and diesel prices in capital Bhopal reached Rs 11590 per litre after a hike of 36 paise while diesel is being sold at Rs 10527 per litre following a hike of 38 paise Speaking to PTI Ajay Singh President Bhopals Petrol Pump Dealers Association said petrol pump owners in the border districts are suffering the most due to the high prices Fuel is cheaper in the neighbouring states and most of the commercial vehicles refuel in other states before entering Madhya Pradesh he said Stressing that the state government should think about rising fuel prices Singh said The state government charges Value Added Tax VAT on a percentage basis while the Centre realises a fixed amount of tax on per litre of fuel irrespective of the prices So the state has a scope to reduce the price PTI COR ADU ARU ARU

Bhopal Sep 29 PTI A dead cow was allegedly suspended upside down in the back of a tractor-trolley as was it was being taken away for disposal in Madhya Pradeshs Dewas district prompting the local authorities to take action against two staffers an official said on Wednesday The alleged incident took place in Sandalpur area of Nemawar town about 120 km from Dewas district headquarters on September 7 while a video of the same surfaced on social media on Wednesday Taking note of the video the Nemawar Nagar Parishad terminated the services of a temporary employee and removed a sanitary inspector from his current charge an official said Earlier in the day representatives of Bajrang Dal had submitted a memorandum to tehsildar G S Patel We have received the memorandum about a dead cow being taken on a tractor-trolley in an improper manner Proper action will be taken after an inquiry Patel said Additional Superintendent of Police ASP Suryakant Sharma said the police had not received any complaint in this regard so far In the video the carcass can be seen suspended upside down in the back of the tractor-trolley it was stated Earlier this month a dead cow was allegedly tied to a tractor-trolley and dragged on the road in Madhya Pradeshs Agar Malwa district prompting the civic administration to sack two workers PTI COR ADU ARU ARU
