COVID-19 No fresh cases fatalities in Puducherry

Puducherry Mar 25 PTI The union territory of Puducherry did not report any fresh coronavirus cases and deaths in the last 24 hours a senior Health department official said on Friday After adding one new infection on each of the last two days the union territory recorded zero cases during the last 24 hours ending 10 am Friday Director of Health G Sriramulu said adding the overall caseload stood at 165774 The department tested 287 samples in the last twenty-four hours There were no fresh fatalities and the death toll remained at 1962 Sriramulu said the number of active cases dipped to nine and all were in home quarantine Two patients recovered in the last 24 hours pushing the overall recoveries to 163803 The Health Department has so far examined 2227248 samples and has found 1871906 out of them to be negative The test positivity rate was zero per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 118 per cent and 9881 per cent The department has so far administered 1625324 doses which comprised 941685 first doses 669943 second and 13696 booster doses PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Feb 18 PTI The union territory of Puducherry logged 50 fresh coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 165534 a senior official of the Department of Health said on Friday No fresh fatality was reported in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Friday and the death toll remained at 1959 Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release here The union territory had clocked 68 new cases on Thursday The number of active cases stood at 586 with 32 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 554 in home quarantine he added Of the 50 fresh identified at the end of the examination of 1884 samples the Puducherry region logged 27 followed by Karaikal with 11 Yanam 9 and Mahe 3 As many as 155 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours while overall recoveries rose to 162989 The test positivity rate was 265 per cent while fatality and recovery rates were 118 per cent and 9846 per cent respectively The Department of Health has so far tested 2198185 samples and has found 1843368 of them to be negative Sriramulu said the Department of Health has so far administered 1560635 doses which comprised 927320 first doses 621577 second and 11738 booster doses PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Jan 23 PTI The union territory of Puducherry logged 1897 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours pushing the overall tally to 152213 a senior Health department official said on Sunday Five more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours as the death toll rose to 1906 Director of Health and Family Welfare Services G Sriramulu said in a release here The Puducherry region alone registered 1395 out of the 1897 new cases in the last 24 hours as of 10 AM today while Karaikal reported 342 cases followed by Yanam 116 and Mahe 44 The number of active cases stood at 15696 with 174 undergoing treatment in hospitals and the remaining 15522 in home isolation The Health department Director said 1264 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours while the overall recoveries rose to 134611 Five more persons all from Puducherry succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours he said adding the deceased were in the age group ranging between 55 and 90 years Sriramulu said the Health Department has so far tested 2129196 samples and found 1794095 out of them to be negative The test positivity rate stood at 3951 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 125 per cent and 8844 per cent respectively The department has so far administered 1521213 doses which comprised 917107 first doses 598904 second and 5202 booster doses Meanwhile Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan said the union territory was witnessing a rise in number of coronavirus cases and this was in line with what was happening across the country Talking to reporters after garlanding the statue of veteran freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary Sunday she said although a total lockdown was enforced in several states Puducherry did not do so as we are concerned about the livelihood sources of the people She appealed to the people to adhere to safety protocols and said that the hospitals here were fully prepared to rise to any exigency I reiterate that the people should not lower their guard against the pandemic she said PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Dec 31 PTI Puducherry registered 17 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 129478 a senior official of the Department of Health said on Friday No fresh fatality was reported from any of the four regions of the union territory Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release here The death toll stood at 1881 The 17 fresh cases were identified at the end of the examination of 2021 samples and the cases were spread over Puducherry 11 and Karaikal six The two other regions-Mahe and Yanam-did not report any fresh infections in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM today the Director said The number active cases stood at 127 which included 33 patients underdoing treatment in hospitals and 94 in home isolation As many as 18 patients recovered and were discharged during the last 24 hours taking the overall recoveries to 127470 The Health Department has so far tested 2048024 samples and has found 1737022 out of them to be negative The test positivity rate was 084 per cent while fatality and recovery rates were 145 per cent and 9845 per cent respectively The Health Department has so far administered 1394520 doses which comprised 834944 first doses and 559576 were second doses PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Dec 30 PTI Puducherry registered 15 fresh coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours taking the overall tally to 129461 a senior official of the Department of Health said on Thursday The union territory reported a fatality in the last 24 hours ending 10 AM Thursday as the toll rose to 1881 Director of Health G Sriramulu said in a release here The fresh cases were identified at the end of the examination of 2295 samples and they were spread over Puducherry 13 and Karaikal two The other two regions-Mahe and Yanam-did not report any fresh infections the Director said An octogenarian hailing from Murugambakkam who had co- morbidities including uremic encephalopathy succumbed to the virus as the toll rose to 1881 The union territory was recording a fatality after 10 straight days of not reporting one The Health Department has so far tested 2045729 samples and has found 1734747 out of them to be negative The number of active cases stood at 128 which included 31 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals and 97 in home isolation While six patients recovered and were discharged during the last twenty-four hours the overall recoveries were 127452 The test positivity rate was 065 per cent while the fatality and recovery rates were 145 per cent and 9845 per cent respectively The Health Department has so far administered 1390507 doses which comprised 833432 first doses and 557075 second doses PTI Cor SS SS

Puducherry Nov 30 PTI Puducherry Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday said the administration has come up with an action plan to achieve cent per cent vaccination against coronavirus and also to prevent Omicron the new variant of the virus from affecting people in the union territory Talking to reporters after visiting a vaccination booth here the Lt Governor said she had held discussions with officials of the Department of Health and also representatives of private medical colleges earlier at her office She said a detailed discussion was held on Omicron and added that she had asked the health officials to intensify their steps to rise to any exigency although there was so far no report of the new variant being detected Soundararajan said that three people who had come to Puducherry recently from South Africa were being monitored closely She said that the government was considering a proposal to adopt certain restrictions to ensure that those visiting Puducherry were subject to checking for Covid-19 Door-to-door inspection to ascertain vaccination of residents would be taken up on December 4 and 5 she said PTI Cor SS SS
