Raigarh Dec 25 PTI At least 17 girls of Classes VIII and X of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Bhupdevpur in Chhattisgarhs Raigarh district have tested positive for COVID-19 an official said on Saturday Raigarh Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr S N Keshari said the 17 girls have been shifted from the hostel to a guesthouse and the entire school has been declared as a containment zone The reports of the 13 girls returned positive on Friday and the remaining four on Saturday Samples of 176 girls studying in Classes VI to XII were tested on Friday and that of 300 boys on Saturday These results are awaited he said Last Sunday parents of some of the children had come to meet them One of the parents was infected The health department has set up a camp to curb the spread and monitor the situation he added Incidentally Raigarh district has led the daily addition tally in Chhattisgarh on December 18 19 21 and 22 local officials said As on Friday Chhattisgarh has a caseload of 1007540 including 13597 deaths PTI COR TKP BNM BNM BNM
Korba Nov 28 PTI A South Eastern Coalfields Limited SECL worker was killed on Sunday after he fell on a conveyor belt in an underground coal mine in Chhattisgarhs Korba district officials said The incident took place at around 4 am in Surakachhar coal mine of SECL a subsidiary of Coal India Limited and the deceased has been identified as mine driller Ramcharan Uraon 59 a company official said As per preliminary information after completing drilling work Uraon was walking along the conveyor belt meant to transport coal outside the mine when he slipped and fell on the belt leaving him with head injuries He was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital the official said Police as well as SECL officials arrived at the spot and have begun a probe while the body has been sent for post mortem he added PTI COR TKP BNM BNM BNM
Korba Nov 22 PTI Four elephants including a calf were found unconscious near a village in Chhattisgarhs Surajpur district on Monday with forest officials suspecting that they might have fallen sick due to food poisoning However two of the four jumbos got up after the treatment by veterinarians and started moving they added Residents informed about some elephants lying unconscious on the ground near Kachhiya village under Biharpur forest range located around 100 kilometres from Surajpur district headquarters said BS Bhagat Divisional Forest Officer DFO of Surajpur Of the four found at the spot two started moving after treatment A third pachyderm was trying to get up after being given an injection The medical team is keeping an eye on the calf which is also trying to get up but personnel have not been able to go near it as it is surrounded by the herd he said The prime facie cause seems to be food poisoning he added There are around 15-16 elephants in the area and as per preliminary information the herd had damaged some homes in the village on Sunday night the official said PTI COR TKP BNM BNM BNM
