New Delhi Mar 25 PTI The CBI has registered two separate cases against a general manager a chief manager and a sales officer of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited IOCL on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in each case a spokesperson said FridayThe first case has been registered on a complaint against a general manager retail sales and a chief manager retail sales both at IOCL Nagpur on allegations that the former demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to execute an agreement for the transfer of the ownership of a retail outletIt was further alleged that the accused directed the complainant to pay the bribe amount to the chief manager retail sales IOCL NagpurThe CBI laid a trap and the chief manager retail sales was apprehended while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainantThe CBI spokesperson identified the accused as N P Rodge General Manager Retail Sales IOCL Nagpur and Manish Nandle Chief Manager Retail Sales IOCL NagpurThe second case has been registered on a complaint against Sunil Golar a Sales Officer IOCL Gondia Maharashtra on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs 1 lakh for allowing the smooth functioning of the complainants petrol pump without any delay caused by IOCL in providing the stock and also previous favours rendered to the complainantThe CBI laid a trap and the accused was apprehended while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainantSearches are being conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused in both the cases the CBI official said adding that further investigation is continuing PTI CPS SKL TIR TIR

Kolkata Feb 28 PTI A special NIA court here sentenced a man on Monday to five years in jail for smuggling fake Indian currency notes an official said The court also imposed a fine of Rs 40000 on Ketabul S K of West Bengals Malda district after convicting him of the relevant offences under the Indian Penal Code the official of the premier investigation agency said The case was originally registered in West Bengals Murshidabad district in July 2018 following the seizure of the FICN having a face value of Rs 192000 the official said The NIA had re-registered the case in August 2018 and filed charge-sheets against three accused in October 2018 and December 2018 the official said Two accused were already convicted earlier in December 2021 the official added PTI CPS SKL RAX RAX

New Delhi Feb 24 PTI A Ugandan woman passenger who arrived at the IGI airport here from Nairobi has been arrested for allegedly smuggling heroin a Customs official said on Thursday The Customs Officers of IGI airport New Delhi booked the case of smuggling of off-white colour substances suspected to be heroin on Saturday The Ugandan woman passenger arrived at the Terminal-3 IGI Airport from Nairobi She was intercepted after she had crossed the green channel and was approaching towards the exit gate of international arrival hall Subsequently after a thorough checking a total of 69 capsules of off-white coloured substance suspected to be heroin collectively weighing 946 grams having international value of Rs 6622 crore approximately were recovered from her When this material was subjected to diagnostic test prima facie it appears to contain commercial quantity of heroin In view of the above it was clear that the passenger had violated provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances NDPS Act and had committed offence punishable under sections of the NDPS Act Accordingly she was placed under arrest on Wednesday The white powdery substance suspected to be heroin has been seized along with concealing material PTI CPS SKL CK
