New Delhi Jan 19 PTI East Delhi Municipal Corporation has cracked the whip against such municipal school teachers who have been absent on duty for an inordinately long time including termination of services of some of them officials said on WednesdayThe action has been initiated in the last few days they saidThe EDMC in a statement on Wednesday said In a bid to streamline and improve the performance of its schools the East Delhi Municipal Corporation has started taking action against such teachers in EDMC schools who have been absent for more than five years without any satisfactory reasons for the sameAll the teachers who had been on long leave have been given notices to resume work or give valid reasons for continued leave or absence Some of the teachers had remained absent after taking leave initially it saidConsequently in some of the cases where no satisfactory replies had been received under the provisions of amended Leave Rules and DMC Regulations 1959 the services of the teachers have been terminated after following due procedure the EDMC saidIn the remaining such cases due process is in progress for termination of the services of teachers who are no more interested to join back or willfully absenting themselves officials saidHowever the corporation did not reveal the number of teachers whose services have been terminatedThis process will also help EDMC identify the actual gap in sanctioned strength of teachers and actual strengthEDMC will recruit new teachers based on the final assessment of the gap which in turn will ensure that the corporation provides better and quality education to the students in primary schools and maintain the requisite PTR pupil teacher ratio and the quality education of the children is not affected the statement saidIt is the primary responsibility of the corporation to provide quality education to the children studying in corporation schools and all efforts will be made to ensure the same officials said PTI KND RHL
New Delhi Nov 19 PTI The East Delhi Municipal Corporation on Friday said it will launch a scheme to allocate a part of total property tax and licence fees collected from a ward towards the local councillor development fund In a statement the civic body said the move seeks to enhance the accountability of the municipal agency towards its residents to increase the tax base and motivate people as well as elected councillors to work for development The EDMC has decided to launch a scheme to allocate a part of the total property tax and licence fees collected from a ward towards the Local Councillor Area Development fund for use in the ward or origin of tax it said Under this scheme five percent of the total collection of the property tax and license fees as received by the EDMC from the issuance of general trade license health trade license veterinary trade license and factory license of a particular ward will be released towards the local councillors local area development fund subject to maximum disbursal of Rs 50 lakh in a ward the EDMC said Further councillor-wise record of the development work of the area should be maintained for the expected results for this scheme and it needs to be ensured that the works being undertaken under this fund are necessary for the development of the ward and it cannot be postponed the statement said While undertaking the development work in the ward it shall be ensured that financial discipline and financial prudence have been duly followed it added In view of the precarious financial position of the EDMC it is felt that this scheme will help in increasing the tax compliance and better tax collection as the residents are assured that a part of the tax and fees they are paying to the municipal agency is being invested in infrastructure development within their locality the civic body said PTI KND AQS AQS
New Delhi Sep 24 PTI East Delhi Municipal Corporation authorities have sealed four shops in a mall in Laxmi Nagar for not paying due property tax officials said on Friday The action was taken as part of a major sealing drive against property tax defaulters they said Four shops in a shopping mall in Laxmi Nagar have been sealed for non-payment of outstanding property tax The total due from these properties stands at Rs 2332000 the EDMC said in a statement Due to non-payment of tax these shop owners were given notice of sealing by the property tax department of the EDMC EDMCs Additional Commissioner Brajesh Singh said He said the last date for payment of property tax for the financial year 2021-22 with a rebate of 15 per cent is September 30 2021 So far six lakh Unique Property Identification Code UPIC numbers have been issued to property taxpayers but only 138 lakh taxpayers have paid property tax The additional commissioner said strict action will be taken against the defaulters in the future PTI KND SNE
