Mumbai Mar 25 PTI The budget session of the Maharashtra legislature was prorogued on Friday with Deputy Assembly Speaker Narhari Zirwal saying that the next session will be held from July 18 in Mumbai The budget session began on March 3 and 15 sittings of the Assembly took place an official said adding that business was transacted in the House for an average of 7 hours 10 minutes daily The attendance in the Assembly was 9153 per cent during the session and average attendance was 8438 per cent he added PTI ENM BNM BNM BNM

Mumbai Feb 25 PTI Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday approved a proposal to give three promotion opportunities to police constables which will help them attain officer rank before retirement state Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said In a series of tweets Walse Patil hoped the move will strengthen the force and help prevent crime and improve detection A decision has been made today to fulfill dreams of thousands of head constables in the state of becoming police sub-inspector Due to this decision a police constable category staffer will get three promotion opportunities during his service period paving way for hisher retirement as an officer he said The minister said a steering committee will be formed at the level of director general of police to implement the government decision In the wake of the decision the police force will have 108058 constables 51210 head constables and 17071 assistant police sub-inspectors he said The minister hoped the number of investigation officers will go up substantially due to this move which will in turn reduce stress on the existing pool of officers PTI ENM BNM BNM BNM
Mumbai Dec 17 PTI Against the backdrop of Madhya Pradesh authorities being told to stay the poll process for OBC-reserved seats in local bodies the NCP in Maharashtra on Friday said those against quota seemed to be succeeding and called for a united fight The Supreme Court during the day directed the State Election Commission SEC in Madhya Pradesh to stay the election process on local bodies seats reserved for Other Backward Classes OBCs and re-notify such seats for the general category An SC bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and C T Ravikumar also observed it had passed an order on December 15 directing the SEC in Maharashtra to notify seats which were reserved for OBCs as general category ones adding that the same principle and analogy must apply in the local body election in Madhya Pradesh as well In a tweet in Hndi Maharashtra minister and NCP national spokesperson Nawab Malik said Supreme Court ke aadesh ke baad Maharashtra ke saath ab Madhya Pradesh mein bhi OBC aarakshan par sankat nirman ho gaya hai after the Supreme Courts order the OBC reservation is in danger in Madhya Pradesh along with Maharashtra Malik tweeted in Hindi The agenda of those who are against reservation is seemingly succeeding We will have to fight unitedly No reservation no election he added Malik earlier in the day said there may be law and order issues in Maharashtra if elections to local bodies are held without 27 per cent reservation for OBCs He also accused the BJP of misleading people on the issue PTI ENM BNM BNM BNM
