Chennai Jan 27 PTI With coronavirus cases on the decline the Tamil Nadu government on Thursday withdrew restrictions such as night curfew and Sunday lockdown while permitting schools to reopen on February 1 for classes 1 to 12Announcing the removal of restriction on week-end worship in religious places Chief Minister M K Stalin said people will be allowed to enter the places of worship from tomorrow onwardsThere will be no restriction Devotees will be allowed to offer worship inside the religious places following the implementation of SoP he saidSchools except nursery and kindergarten and colleges will reopen on February 1 and resume the direct classesFollowing a spate of infections the government had ordered schools to close while permitting classes for higher secondary students till Pongal mid-January Later all the higher secondary schools were asked to remain shut till this month-endReviewing the pandemic situation with health officials and senior bureaucrats on Thursday Chief Minister M K Stalin announced that there will be no night curfew from January 28 Further there would not be a complete lockdown this Sunday January 30 as it is being withdrawnRestaurants cinema theatres clubs amusement parks bakeries lodges gyms garment and jewellery shops spas and salons are allowed to function with 50 per cent occupancyThe restriction on the number of persons up to 100 for marriage and 50 for funerals will however continueAll colleges and universities other than those that are temporarily functioning as COVID Care Centres would resume classes on February 1 strictly complying with the government guidelines on COVID safetyAbout 28515 Coronavirus positive cases were added to the registry today taking the tally to 3252751 till date while recoveries stood at 28620The restriction on social cultural and political gathering will continue The polls to the urban civic bodies will be held on February 19 with stringent enforcement of the SoPs issued by the State Election Commission a release from the government said PTI JSP ROH ROH

Chennai Nov 17 PTI The extracorporeal membrane oxygenation ECMO has helped in the recovery of patients with significant lung injury eliminating the need for lung transplant besides serving to treat delta variant COVID-19 patients claimed Dr Paul Ramesh senior consultant cardiothoracic and heart and lung transplant surgeon Apollo Hospitals here on WednesdayAlso the Apollo Chennai ECMO unit has set a longest bridge to lung recovery patient on ECMO for 116 days 183 days of hospitalisation he saidBy using ECMO we have seen that the majority of patients with significant lung injury recover fully eliminating the need for a lung transplant Dr Ramesh saidSpeaking to reporters here he said of the 23 persons infected with delta variant during the second COVID-19 wave placed on ECMO 10 patients have been discharged one had a successful transplant two are off the ECMO and undergoing rehabilitation Six patients had died due to severe illness Dr Ramesh claimedThe patients blood is purified and oxygenated through large tubes placed inside large veins close to the heart and returned back by means of a pump In a majority of patients who have COVID-19 that causes lung failure only lung support is required In a small number of patients it is required for the support of the heart function also the hospital saidApollo hospitals in Chennai has the countrys most advanced ECMO unit which has successfully treated over 270 ECMO patients since 2010 a release from the hospital said and added ECMO is employed under various conditions including poisoning trauma and infections such as H1N1 pre and post-transplant patients and most recently the COVID-19We have demonstrated that ECMO was very effective in patients who were unable to be treated with conventional ventilator therapy Among the many records the Apollo Chennai ECMO unit has set is we also have the longest bridge to lung recovery patient on ECMO for 116 days the release saidThe reason for success includes awake ECMO allowing the patient to remain awake and engage with their families in order to boost their morale and enhance the likelihood of a faster recovery and better treatment outcomes asserted Dr K Madhan Kumar senior consultant cardiothoracic and heart and lung transplant surgeon Apollo HospitalsIn order to establish a state of the art ECMO unit that can deliver outcome on par with the best units in the world many streams of expertise knowledge and skill from medical nursing perfusion technology as well as management and administrative streams have to come together Suneeta Reddy managing director Apollo Hospitals Group saidDuring the second wave of COVID-19 the team broke records by successfully helping lung function to recover in the largest number of patients in India the hospital said PTI JSP ROH ROH

Chennai Sept 21 PTI The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd IRCTC fixed a bug on its e-ticketing platform after a plus two lad from the city raised an alarm over the presence of Insecure direct object references IDOR - a type of access control vulnerability in the booking siteThe IT wing of the IRCTC which took note of the complaint immediately resolved the vulnerability issue that has been reported a senior official said on TuesdayOur e-ticketing system is well protected now The issue was reported on August 30 and it was fixed on September 2 he addedThe IDOR a type of access control vulnerability arises when an application uses user-supplied input to access objects directlyI accidently discovered a critical IDOR that leaks the transaction details of millions of travelers when I was trying to book tickets on August 30 It was the most common bug Immediately I reported about it to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-In P Renganathan a plus two student of a private school in Tambaram here saidIve discovered a critical IDOR that leaks the transaction details of millions of travelers Go to your account ticket history click on any ticket with burp suite turned on Now change the transaction ID to gain access to anothers tickets you will get all the sensitive details You can also cancel someones ticket or do anything malicious he said in an email complaint to CERT-In under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information TechnologyAs a mitigation Renganathan who identifies himself as ethical hacker and cyber security researcher said that the booked user and ticket should be validated so that no one else can access it except the booked userOn September 11 2021 he received a mail thanking him for reporting the incident to CERT-In and also a confirmation that the reported vulnerability has been resolved by the authorities concernedRenganathan currently pursuing commerce group has been acknowledged by LinkedIn United Nations BYJUs Nike Lenovo Upstox for reporting security vulnerabilities in their web applicationsSchools across Tamil Nadu re-opened only for classes ninth to twelfth on September 1 I have opted for online classes owing to the pandemic he said PTI JSP ROH ROH
