Bengaluru Mar 28 PTI Karnataka BJP legislator and Chief Ministers political secretary M P Renukacharya on Monday urged the state government to ban madrasas alleging that matters relating to anti-national activities are taught there He questioned the need for madrasas when there are government-run schools where education that is required for the all-round development of a child is imparted At madrasas they dont teach about our visionaries the leaders who have made sacrifices for the country They only teach about Islamic studies there Renukacharya said Speaking to reporters here the Honnali MLA alleged that matters that reflect on anti-national activities are taught at madrasas which will have an adverse impact on the minds of innocent children I demand that madrasas should be banneddont we have schools run by the government where lessons are taught We do he said adding that if madrasas teach about visionaries and the leaders who have made sacrifices for the country he would welcome them The MLA also went on to accuse the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the past of releasing funds to madrasas while they didnt have money for Hindu religious institutions and mutts PTI KSU RS KSU HDA HDA
Bengaluru Feb 23 PTI Amidst demand from a section within the ruling BJP to hand over the probe into killing of a 28-year-old Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga to National Investigation Agency NIA Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said a decision in this connection will be taken based on the outcome of police investigation He said along with the probe maintaining peace and order in Shivamogga that witnessed violence including stone-pelting and arson following the murder is his governments priority Several people have been arrested investigation is on Depending on what comes out of the investigation it will be decided as to which agency has to investigate further We should give an opportunity for police to investigate first Bommai said in response to a question on demand for a NIA inquiry Speaking to reporters here he said the governments first priority is to maintain peace and law and order in Shivamogga a district headquarters town about 250 kms from here Along with maintaining peace and order investigation is also on those arrested are being interrogated based on what comes out we will take further action he added Harsha a resident of Seegehatti in Shivamogga was stabbed with lethal weapons by a group of people on Sunday night following which he was taken to McGann Hospital where he succumbed to injuries Earlier today Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that eight people have been arrested so far in connection with the case while interrogation of others is on Several BJP leaders including Senior Minister K S Eshwarappa and Union Minister of state Shobha Karandlaje claiming a conspiracy behind Harshas murder have demanded NIA probe into the case PTI KSU RS ROH ROH
Bengaluru Jan 24 PTI Allegedly humiliated by a sales executive at a showroom for his looks a farmer in Tumakuru district who had gone to buy a new pick-up truck threw up a challenge and returned with the cash in quick time but claimed that the promise to deliver the vehicle immediately was not honoured The video of the purported incident has been widely circulated in the social media and has drawn criticism with some users accusing the sales team at the showroom of being classist The incident is said to have taken place on Friday when the farmer named Kempegowda from Ramanapalya in Chikkasandra hobli along with seven of his associates had gone to buy the Bolero pick-up truck at a showroom Looking at my clothes and my condition they felt that Im not in a position to pay the moneyone of their field officers told me- you probably dont even have Rs 10 will you buy this vehicle- He even said that those who come to buy a vehicle dont come in the way we had Kempegowda said He said Humiliated one of my uncles challenged the salesman that they were ready to pay Rs 10 lakh and would he deliver the vehicle immediately to which he replied if they get full cash in half-an-hour he would deliver the vehicle immediately Kempegowda said when he got Rs 10 lakh and placed it before the sales persons within 30 minutes They changed the plate and said they wont be able to deliver the vehicle immediately for various reasons Angered by this Kempegowda and his associates informed the police and refused to leave the place demanding that the vehicle be delivered to them immediately or a written apology for the humiliation After police persuaded them they left the spot stating that they dont want a vehicle from the showroom anymore but want them to apologise PTI KSU RS NVG NVG
Bengaluru Sep 17 PTI An earthquake of 23 magnitude on the Richter scale was reported in Hassan district officials of state Disaster Management Authority said on Friday The earthquake occurred at 173225 IST epicentred 15 km NNE North North East of Rayapura of Salagame Hobli in Hassan Taluk they said The seismic intensity map of the earthquake from the epicentre is presented wherein intensities observed are very low This type of earthquake do not create any harm to the local community although there may be slight shaking observed locally The community need not panic as the intensity observed is low and not destructive an official note said PTI KSU RS APR APR
