Bhopal Apr 20 PTI Madhya Pradesh has recorded six new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours that took the tally of infections to 1041266 an official from the state health department said on Wednesday As many as 10 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day raising the count of recoveries to 1030487 while the toll stood at 10734 as no fresh casualties were reported the official said With the positivity rate of 008 per cent the state currently has 45 active cases he said At least 7036 swab samples were examined during the day taking the number of tests conducted in the state to 29008792 the official added As per a government release 117055861 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state of which 49616 jabs were given on Wednesday Coronavirus figures in MP are as follows Total cases 1041266 new cases 06 death toll 10734 recoveries 1030487 active cases 45 number of tests so far 29008792 PTI MAS ARU ARU

Bhopal Apr 19 PTI Oranges grown in Madhya Pradeshs Chhindwara district will now have a distinct identity of their own from the ones produced in Nagpur in neighbouring Maharashtra and will be called Satpuda orange under the one district one produce scheme of the government an official said on Tuesday The authorities have also created a QR code for the fruit which will reveal all the information about the variety the moment someone scans the code he said Very few people know that a major chunk of Nagpurs orange is sourced from Chhindwara district It has played a major role in getting Nagpur the tag of Orange City the official from the public relation department said Under the one-district-one-produce scheme oranges grown in Chhindwara will be known as Satpuda orange she said Oranges grown in Chhindwara have a thin cover and are sweet and juicy Because of its distinct qualities cultivators were directly selling the fruit to multi-national companies the official said Oranges are grown in Chhindwara districts Pandhurna Saunsar Bicchua and other development blocks in an area of 25000 hectares Nearly 45 lakh tonnes of oranges are produced in this region of which 60 to 70 per cent are sourced by Nagpur traders and from there it reaches the other states and Bangladesh the official added PTI MAS ARU ARU

Bhopal Mar 25 PTI With the addition of 26 new cases of coronavirus the tally of infections in Madhya Pradesh reached 1040992 on Friday an official from the state health department said As many as 26 patients were discharged from hospitals and no fresh fatalities were reported during the day raising the count of recoveries to 1030126 while the toll stood at 10734 the official said The central state is now left with 132 active cases he said adding that the positivity rate stood at 01 per cent With 21849 samples examined during the day the number of tests conducted in the state has risen to 28721633 he added As per a government release 115280031 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far in the state including 83102 jabs given on Friday Coronavirus figures in MP are as follows Total cases 1040992 new cases 26 death toll 10734 recoveries 1030126 active cases 132 number of tests so far 28721633 PTI MAS ARU ARU

Bhopal Jan 31 PTI The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday decided to reopen schools including residential ones with 50 per cent capacity for students of classes 1 to 12 from February 1 as the coronavirus situation appears to be stabilising in the state officials saidThe decision was taken after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held discussions with medical experts over the prevailing coronavirus situation and the feasibility of reopening schools they saidThe CM himself later tweeted about the governments decisionDiscussions were held with medical experts on the issue of reopening schools Accordingly it has been decided to reopen schools for classes 1 to 12 with 50 per cent attendance including residential ones and hostels Chouhan said in a tweet in HindiAmid a surge in coronavirus cases and emergence of the highly contagious Omicron variant the Madhya Pradesh government had on January 14 issued orders to shut schools for in-person learning for students of classes 1 to 12 and also hostels till January 31Though there is nothing to worry on the pandemic front the administration should continue to ensure COVID-19-appropriate behaviour among citizens and mandatory use of face masks in public places the CM saidThe COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh rose to 959439 on Sunday after detection of 9305 new cases a health department official saidThe death toll increased to 10616 after nine more patients succumbed to the infection he had saidThe positivity rate positive cases per 100 tests decreased slightly to 1149 per cent on Sunday from 1174 per cent the previous day the official had said PTI MAS RSY RSY

Bhopal Jan 20 PTI An employee of the Housing Board was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4000 on Thursday to issue a no-objection certificate NOC for construction of a house in Madhya Pradeshs Bhopal a Lokayukta official said The accused employee Prahlad Shrivastava allegedly tried to injure himself with a knife when Lokayukta officials tried to nab him at his office Lokayukta superintendent of police Manu Vyas said A policeman from the raiding team sustained an injury while trying to prevent the accused from harming himself he said Based on a complaint lodged by one Gopal Singh Rathore a trap was laid and Shrivastava was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount at his office the official said Shrivastava had allegedly demanded Rs 10000 from the complainant for issuing an NOC to construct a permanent house in place of a temporary one he said A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Shrivastava and further investigations in the matter are underway he said A separate case was also registered against the accused official in TT Nagar police station for taking out a knife from a drawer and injuring himself the SP added PTI MAS ARU ARU

Bhopal Dec 21 PTI The Madhya Pradesh government will approach the Supreme Court to ensure that panchayat elections in the state are held with reservation for OBC candidates Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in the Assembly on TuesdayChouhan said the Centre and the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh are on the same page on political reservation for Other Backward Classes OBCs and accused the opposition Congress of stalling the ongoing process of panchayat elections by approaching the apex court over the issueLast Friday the Supreme Court directed the Madhya Pradesh State Election Commission SEC to stay the poll process on seats reserved for OBCs in panchayats and re-notify those constituencies for the general categoryReplying to an adjournment motion moved by Kamleshwar Patel Congress on the issue of OBC quota after the apex court ruling Chouhan said Not just the state government but the Centre too is approaching the Supreme Court to ensure that panchayat elections are held as per provision of OBC reservation I am in constant touch with the Union law minister home minister and legal luminaries on the issue since the last two days to find a way out he saidThe government will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the OBC reservation in elections for panchayats continues Chouhan said amid continuous interruptions by the opposition membersDiscussion on the adjournment motion was taken up after Leader of Opposition Kamal Nath pointed out that a number of Congress MLAs had given a notice for it as it was a matter of public importance and added the issue should be taken up on priority by the house over other scheduled businessesThe CM accused the Congress of stalling the ongoing process of panchayat elections by moving to the high court and later to the SC through its lawyer and Rajya Sabha member Vivek TankhaHis intention was to stall the elections and deprive the OBC community of benefit of reservations in panchayat elections Chouhan saidIn his speech the CM listed various steps taken by his government for the benefit of not just the OBC community but also SCsSTs and the poor among the upper-castesParticipating in the debate Nath clarified that the Congress had gone to the Supreme Court not on the issue of OBC quota but on rotation of reservation and delimitation of seats in panchayat electionsHe said lawyers representing the MP government in the Supreme Court were present at the time of the hearing and did not utter a word in the matter following which the apex court gave its ruling on OBC reservation on the lines of a similar judgement related to MaharashtraLast week the Supreme Court directed the State Election Commission SEC of Maharashtra to notify 27 per cent seats in the local bodies which were reserved for the OBCs as general category so that the poll process can be taken forwardNath said even now the state government can go back to the Supreme Court and get the matter cleared to pave the way for providing reservation to the OBC community in panchayatsThe former CM said the Congress will support the BJP government on the OBC political quota issueAfter the last weeks SC ruling the SEC has stopped the poll process on seats reserved for the OBC community in panchayats while the exercise is going on as scheduled for other constituencies PTI MAS RSY RSY
