Shillong Jan 30 PTI Meghalaya on Sunday reported 362 new COVID-19 cases 42 more than the previous day with the tally mounting to 90884 a health official said The death toll rose to 1522 as four more patients succumbed to the disease Health Services Director Dr Aman War said East Khasi Hills district recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 149 followed by West Garo Hills at 133 At least 424 people recuperated from the infection during the day taking the total number of recoveries to 87009 War said Meghalaya now has 2353 active cases he said The state has so far conducted over 1312 lakh sample tests for COVID-19 the official said Over 2268 lakh people have been inoculated till Saturday with 927180 of them having received both doses of vaccines he added PTI JOP SBN BDC BDC

Shillong Jan 22 PTI Meghalaya on Saturday logged 406 new COVID-19 cases 75 more than the previous day with the tally rising to 88141 a health department official said The death toll rose to 1496 as one more patient succumbed to the infection he said East Khasi Hills district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 304 followed by West Garo Hills at 56 Health Services Director Dr Aman War said adding that the remaining infections were detected in eight other districts At least 185 people were cured of the disease during the day taking the total number of recoveries to 84643 Meghalaya now has 2002 active cases The state has conducted over 1294 lakh sample tests for COVID-19 so far the official said More than 2259 lakh people have been inoculated till Friday with 925060 of them having received both doses of vaccines War added PTI JOP SBN BDC BDC

Shillong Aug 31 PTI The Meghalaya government on Tuesday inked a memorandum of understanding MoU with the Meghalaya Rural Bank aiming at easing banking services in rural areas an official saidAn MoU was signed between the finance department represented by Finance Commissioner and Secretary Dr D Vijay Kumar and Chairman of Meghalaya Rural Bank Tshering DekiThis will help the state achieve its objective of financial inclusion and also in transferring the financial benefits of the state as well as the central government directly into the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries in unbanked areas Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said on the occasionThe MoU will address the fundamental problem of access to finance in rural or remote areas of the state he saidThe state government will support the Meghalaya Rural Bank in deploying 600 business correspondents across the state a bank official saidThe business correspondents will be given micro ATMs to pay cash at the doorsteps of customers and will assist people in other banking works PTI JOP NN NN
