Srinagar Dec 24 PTI Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 141 fresh cases of coronavirus taking the infected number of persons to 340434 while one fresh death due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory in the past 24 hours officials said Of the fresh cases 23 were from Jammu division and 118 from Kashmir division of the Union Territory the officials said They said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 58 cases followed by 14 cases in Jammu district There are 1317 active cases in the UT while the number of recovered patients was 334598 the officials said The death toll due to the pandemic has gone up to 4519 with the addition of one fresh death reported in the past 24 hours Meanwhile the officials said there were 50 confirmed cases of mucormycosis black fungus in the UT as no fresh case was reported since Thursday evening PTI MIJ HDA
Srinagar Dec 23 PTI Security forces on Thursday arrested two overground workers of Lashkar-e-Toiba LeT in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir police said Acting on specific inputs police army and the CRPF apprehended two terrorist associates linked with proscribed terrorist outfit LeT from Magam area of Budgam a police spokesman said He said the arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Shafi Ganai and Zahoor Ahmad Chopan Incriminating materials were recovered from their possession During preliminary investigation it was revealed that the arrested persons were in touch with LeT commanders and involved in providing logistics shelter as well as transportation to the terrorists he said An FIR has been registered at Khag police station and further investigation is under process the spokesperson added PTI MIJ HDA

Srinagar Aug 24 PTI The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday arrested a policeman for demanding and taking bribe from an accused for submitting a favourable report in the court in Anantnag district Acting on a complaint filed by a person accused in a case lodged in Qazigund police station of Anantnag district the ACB laid a trap as the complainant claimed that the investigating officer Head Constable Mohammad Yousuf demanded a bribe The complainant said he was granted conditional bail in an FIR lodged against him in Police Station Qazigund Anantnag by the competent court which was expiring on 2582021 a spokesman of the ACB said However the investigating officer of the case Head Constable Mohd Yousuf of Police Station Qazigund was demanding Rs 10000 from him for providing a favourable report to be submitted before the Court The complainant requested the accused head constable negotiated the deal for Rs 5000 which was demanded to be paid in the police station the spokesman said He said a team was constituted and the accused was caught while accepting the bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in Qazigund police station The bribe money was also recovered on the spot The head constable was arrested and taken into custody he added PTI MIJ HDA
