Mumbai Dec 25 PTI Mumbai reported 757 new coronavirus infections on Saturday marking rise in cases for the third day in a row the civic body said The countrys financial capital however recorded zero pandemic-related fatalities during the day The city had reported 490 cases on Wednesday 602 on Thursday and 683 cases on Friday The caseload increased to 770190 while death toll stayed unchanged at 16368 As many as 280 patients recovered raising the tally of recoveries to 747538 There are 3703 active coronavirus cases in Mumbai now Earlier in the day the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC banned New Year celebration programmes and gatherings in enclosed or open areas in the city in view of rising cases and the Omicron scare The recovery rate in Mumbai is 97 per cent while overall case growth rate between December 18 to 24 was 005 per cent The caseload doubling period stands at 1338 days As many as 17 buildings have been sealed in the city currently A building is sealed when more than five cases are found on the premises PTI ND KRK KRK

Mumbai Dec 23 PTI Hospitals in Maharashtra have so far refunded Rs 36 crore to COVID-19 patients after being found to have overcharged health minister Rajesh Tope told the Legislative Council on ThursdayHe was responding to a question by the BJPs Sadabhau Khot on whether hospitals were found to have overcharged COVID-19 patients and what action was taken by the government in such casesThe state government has received 63398 complaints against hospitals which were not empaneled by the state government for COVID-19 treatment Out of it 56994 cases have been resolved and refund of Rs 351839061 has been given to the patients or their kin the reply saidThe state also received another 2081 complaints against hospitals which were empaneled by the government for treating COVID-19 patients under various health schemes Out of it 774 cases have been resolved and refund Rs 12066168 was given Tope saidTo another question the health minister said The government has recovered fine of Rs 6134 lakh from 234 blood banks for not keeping their data updated There are 350 blood banks in the state The fine was collected between January and October this yearThere is a standing instruction to every blood bank to keep its blood availability data updated on its portal If the data is not updated Rs 1000 per day is the fine Tope saidAt the national level average blood wastage is 5 per cent but it is 12 per cent in Maharashtra which is satisfactory he added PTI ND KRK KRK

Mumbai Dec 18 PTI Mumbai on Saturday reported 283 new coronavirus infections and zero pandemic-related fatalities a civic official said This was the fourth occasion since the first coronavirus case was reported in Mumbai in March 2020 when no death was recorded during a day The city had recorded zero COVID-19 deaths this year on October 17 and December 11 and 15 said a release issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation BMC The tally of COVID-19 cases in the countrys financial capital rose to 766791 and death toll remained unchanged at 16363 As many as 51171 COVID-19 tests were conducted in Mumbai during the day which raised the tally of tests to 13137201 The city is left with 1948 active COVID-19 cases as 275 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals The total of recovered patients rose to 745903 The recovery rate in the city is 97 per cent Mumbais overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases was 003 per cent during December 11 to 17 and average doubling rate of cases is 2321 days Presently Mumbai has 19 sealed buildings Buildings are sealed when five or more cases are found on the premises PTI ND KRK KRK
