New Delhi Nov 19 PTI The Enforcement Directorate ED has filed a fresh chargesheet against two operatives who allegedly provided fake business entries in connection with its money laundering probe against Shakti Bhog foods company in an alleged over Rs 3269 crore bank loan fraud case The agency in a statement issued on Thursday said the prosecution complaint has been filed against Ashok Kumar Goel and Devki Nandan Garg before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act PMLA court here It charged the two arrested by the ED in September for having an active involvement in the offence of money laundering in bank fraud of Rs 326942 crore by Shakti Bhog Foods Limited SBFL The agency accused Goel and Garg of assisting Shakti Bhog Foods Limited and its directors in generation acquisition layering and siphoning off its loans funds through shell companies under their disposal They were actively involved in providing fake bills to the company without actual business transactions it said in the chargesheet These fake bills it alleged Facilitated inflated stock turnover and purchasesale of SBFL to enable it to secure enhanced credit facilities from consortium banks on the basis of this inflated financial reports It said the two were beneficiaries of the proceeds of crime The money laundering case against Shakti Bhog Foods Limited was filed after studying a CBI FIR that charged it and others for criminal conspiracy cheating and criminal misconduct The agency had also arrested the chairman and managing director CMD of Shakti Bhog Foods Limited K K Sharma and a chartered accountant CA named Raman Bhuraria in this case It has attached assets worth over Rs 98 crore and filed its first chargesheet sometime back against the company Kumar Bhuraria and others The CBI FIR against the company and its promoters came about after the State Bank of India SBI registered a complaint against the company According to the SBI the directors allegedly falsified accounts and forged documents to siphon off public funds The 24-year-old company which is into manufacturing and selling wheat flour rice biscuits cookies etc had grown organically as it ventured into food-related diversification over a decade with a turnover growth of Rs 1411 crore in 2008 to Rs 6000 crore in 2014 the bank complaint had said PTI NES AQS AQS

New Delhi Sep 25 PTI The CBDT Saturday said the Income Tax Department has detected tax evasion worth crores of rupees in raids on a leading diamond manufacturer and exporter of GujaratThe searches were launched on September 22 at 23 premises of the group which is also in tiles manufacturing business at Surat Navsari Morbi and Wankaner Morbi in Gujarat and Mumbai in MaharashtraThe raids are still underway it saidThe primary analysis of data reveals that the assessee has made unaccounted purchase and sale of small polished diamonds of about Rs 518 crore over the period The data reveals that the assessee has sold more than Rs 95 crore of diamond scrap in cash generated from its manufacturing activities which remains unaccounted for and represents its income the Central Board of Direct Taxes CBDT claimed in a statementThe assessee over these years has accounted for the sale of about Rs 2742 crore of small diamonds in its books against which substantial part of purchases were made in cash but the purchase bills were taken from accommodation entry providers it allegedThe statement said unaccounted cash and jewellery worth Rs 195 crore has been seized during the raids and unaccounted diamond stock of 8900 carat worth Rs 1098 crore has been detected A large number of lockers belonging to the group have been identified which have been placed under restraint and will be operated in due course it saidThe policy-making body for the tax department said that the group was making its major purchases of rough diamonds through imports and making export sales of finished bigger diamonds through its company registered in Hongkong which is effectively controlled and managed from India only The data reveals that the assessee has made purchases of Rs 189 crore and sale of Rs 1040 crore in the last two years through this entity financial transactions of real estate deals were found which led to the detection of unaccounted income of Rs 80 crore it claimedThe sale transactions of shares pertaining to the business of tiles were examined which led to the detection of Rs 81 crore of unaccounted income the CBDT saidIt said the raid teams have seized paper as well as digital data kept at secret locations under the custody of its trusted employees that includes proof of unaccounted purchases and sales accommodation entries obtaining illegal business entries in accounts for purchases against which cash is received the movement of such cash and stock through angadia firms keeping the unaccounted cash with angadias investment of such unaccounted income for purchase of property and stock etc for the last five years PTI NES TIR TIR
