Coimbatore Oct 30 PTI Apprehensive over the outcome of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test NEET a 20-year old medical aspirant allegedly died by suicide in the district K Keerthivasan of Sangarayapuram near here had appeared for the entrance exam held in September for the third time results of which are expected in a couple of days According to police the youth had taken up the test in 2019 and 2020 but could not clear So he tried his luck for the third time this year With National Testing Agency publishing the answer key the youth was said to be upset and told his parents that he may not be able to clear the test this year also they said Despite the advise from his parents to wait for the results Keerthivasan allegedly consumed pesticides on Friday afternoon and was admitted to Pollachi Government hospital The doctors attending to the youth referred him to the Government hospital here where he died at night they added PTI NVM ROH ROH
Coimbatore Sept 30 PTI Four students of a private nursing college here were arrested on Thursday for slapping a junior student while indulging in ragging According to police Rizwan 20 haling from Kollam in neighbouring Kerala had returned to the college on September 20 after relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions and was staying in the mens hostelOn September 27 a group of 13 students barged into his room and started ragging him and slapped him Though he lodged a complaint the college administration did not not take any action against the culprits Rizwan went to his home town and narrated the ordeal to his parents who admitted him to a hospital to treat his injuries The boys parents then came to Coimbatore on Wednesday and lodged a complaint with the police against the students Based on the complaint police arrested four students and released them on bail and search was on for nine others PTI NVM ROH ROH
