New Delhi Feb 19 PTI The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 17533 crore on Saturday the Union health ministry saidMore than 27 lakh 2747926 vaccine doses were administered till 7 pmThe ministry also said that over 189 crore 18907829 precaution doses have been administered to healthcare workers frontline workers and those aged 60 and above with comorbiditiesThe daily vaccination tally is expected to increase with the compilation of the final reports for the day by late nightThe countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on January 16 with healthcare workers HCWs getting inoculated in the first phase The vaccination of frontline workers FLWs started from February 2The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from March 1 for people over 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditionsThe country launched vaccination for all people aged more than 45 years from April 1The government then decided to expand its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 to be vaccinated from May 1The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from January 3 for adolescents in the age group of 15-18 years India began administering precaution dose of COVID-19 vaccine to HCWs and FLWs including personnel deployed for election duty and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities from January 10 amid the country witnessing a spike in coronavirus infections fuelled by Omicron variant of the virus PTI PLB ANB ANB

Six members can be registered using one mobile number on Co-WIN Govt

New Delhi Jan 21 PTI The Union health ministry on Friday said that against the earlier limit of four now six members can be registered for Covid vaccination on Co-WIN using one mobile number It also said that a new utility feature has been introduced under the Raise an Issue section of Co-WIN and through this a beneficiary can revoke the current vaccination status from fully vaccinated to partially vaccinated or unvaccinated status and also partially vaccinated to unvaccinated status The vaccination status can be corrected by the beneficiaries where in occasional isolated cases the vaccination certificates are generated due to inadvertent data entry errors by the vaccinator in updation of vaccination data of beneficiaries the ministry said It said that after submitting the online request through Raise an Issue the change may take three to seven days to appear On change of vaccination status the ministry said such beneficiaries can get their due vaccine dose may be at the nearest vaccination centre according to existent standard guidelines once a new vaccination status is successfully updated in the system PTI PLB ANB ANB

New Delhi Dec 26 PTI Bharat Biotechs Covaxin is likely to be the only COVID-19 vaccine available for now for children in the age group of 15-18 years who will be inoculated from January 3 official sources saidAlso healthcare and frontline workers and citizens above 60 years of age with comorbidities would be administered the third dose of the same vaccine they had been given beforePrime Minister Narendra Modi in a televised address to the nation on Saturday night announced that vaccination against COVID-19 for children between 15-18 years will start from January 3while precaution dose for healthcare and frontline workers would be administered from January 10The decisions came amid rising Covid cases linked to the Omicron variant of the virusThe precaution dose will also be available for citizens above 60 years of age and with comorbidities on the advice of their doctor from January 10 next year as well the prime minister had saidBharat Biotechs Covaxin is the only COVID-19 vaccine which will be administered for now to children in the age group of 15-18 years who will be inoculated from January 3 The estimated population to be covered in this category is seven to eight crores an official source saidThe source said that Zydus Cadilas vaccine ZyCoV-D has not yet been introduced in the countrys inoculation programme even for adults though it had received emergency use authorisation from the drug regulator on August 20 making it the first vaccine that could be administered in the age group of 12-18 years in the countryThe indigenously developed ZyCoV-D is the worlds first DNA-based needle-free COVID-19 vaccineThe gap between the second and third dose of COVID-19 vaccine which is being termed as precaution dose is likely to be nine to 12 monthsNecessary modifications are being done on the CoWIN portal to register the new category of vaccinationThe Drugs Controller General of India DCGI granted emergency use authorisation to indigenously-developed Covaxin for children above 12 years with certain conditions on FridayMore than 61 per cent of Indias adult population has received both doses of the vaccine Similarly about 90 per cent of the adult population has received the first dose of Covid vaccineThe cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 141 crore according to the health ministryA stock of four to five crore vaccine doses of Covaxin are available with states and union territories PTI PLB ANB ANB

New Delhi Sep 30 PTI Over 8651 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and union territories so far through the Centres free of cost channel and direct state procurement category the Union health ministry said on ThursdayMore than 6369 lakh doses 6369890 are in the process of being supplied to states and union territories UTs it saidThe ministry said that 50046000 doses -- balance and unutilised -- are still available with the states and UTsThe Union government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country it said The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines advance visibility of vaccine availability to states and UTs for enabling better planning by them and streamlining the vaccine supply chain the ministry saidAs part of the nationwide vaccination drive the government has been supporting states and UTs by providing them COVID-19 vaccines free of cost the ministry said Under universalisation of the COVID-19 vaccination drive the Centre will procure and supply free of cost 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and UTs it said PTI PLB ANB ANB
