Jaipur Jan 31 PTI A passenger who arrived from Dubai was caught with gold worth Rs 2537 lakh at the airport here on Monday The passenger was carrying yellowish granular paste packed in two transparent polyethylene capsules concealed inside his rectum a customs official said During the personal search of the passenger two transparent polyethylene capsules were found duly concealed in the rectum the official said The gold of 9950 per cent purity valued at Rs 2537865 was extracted from the paste and seized under the provisions of the Customs Act The passenger was also arrested PTI SDA RDK RDK
Jaipur Dec 31 PTI A 73-year-old man who was found infected with the Omicron variant of coronavirus in genome sequencing and later tested negative twice died in a Udaipur hospital on Friday an official said The death is due to post-covid pneumonia with comorbidities--diabetes mellitus hypertension and hypothyroidism Udaipur Chief Medical Health Officer CMHO Dr Dinesh Kharadi said Earlier on Thursday in Maharashtra a 52-year-old man with a travel history to Nigeria who had died from a heart attack on December 28 was found infected with the Omicron variant But his death had nothing to do with the infection a health bulletin had said stressing that he had diabetes for 13 years The man who died in Udaipur tested negative twice on December 21 and 25 Dr Kharadi said the man was found covid positive on December 15 and had symptoms like fever cough and rhinitis therefore he was admitted to the hospital A sample was sent for genome sequencing and the result was received on December 25 in which he was found suffering from the Omicron variant Before it he tested negative on December 21 Another test was conducted on December 25 which was also negative the CMHO said Apart from the death 208 coronavirus cases were reported in the state on Thursday Jaipur reported the maximum 98 cases while 50 infections surfaced in Jodhpur So far 8964 people have died from the infection in Rajasthan which had reported 956227 till Thursday PTI SDA RDK RDK
Jaipur Dec 31 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said his government will impose more curbs to check the coronavirus spread in state capital Jaipur as the situation may turn explosive and cant be taken lightly At a review meeting which was telecast live on social media platforms he directed officials to increase testing in the capital Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh suggested closing of schools while close of religious places and curbs on gathering in weddings were also recommended Jaipur had reported 185 of 252 positive cases on Thursday Of 773 active cases 521 are in Jaipur It is the matter of the state capital which should not be taken lightly otherwise the situation may turn explosive because the highest number of positive cases is being reported from Jaipur Gehlot said at the meeting Based on the discussion and suggestions received in the over two-hour-long meeting the Home Department will now release guidelines Gehlot also questioned the Jaipur CMHO why sampling has not been increased despite rising number of positive cases in the past 15 days He said the number of samples collected daily in Jaipur is more or less constant whereas the number of positive cases is continuously increasing On his direction the official said the sampling will be increased to 8000 to 10000 per day PTI SDA RDK RDK
Jaipur Dec 26 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday said candidates for elections should be selected on the basis of merit and not on guess work by senior leaders in Delhi Addressing Congress workers during a training camp he urged them to stand with the party in the time of crisis Recalling the days when he was in the NSUI Gehlot said there was a time when party convention used to go on all day and leaders used to listen to young workers He said through this practice qualities of workers used to be judged But today when elections come candidates rush to Delhi for tickets and senior leaders just guess who is competent and who is not Gehlot said This is not right A person should come forward on merit decisions should be made on merit he said Gehlot underlined the importance of party workers saying the work they can do or the message he can convey it cannot be done even after spending crores of rupees on advertisements Referring to his experience Gehlot said he is about to complete 50 years in politics during which he became the chief minister thrice and has been a union minister and state Congress chief thrice He described it as the investment of the party high command in him and said he owes it to the party and at this time of crisis it is for him other leaders and workers to stand with the party The phase that the party is going through today whether it is you or me everyones role may be different but the duty of us all is how do we stand firmly with the party in this hour of crisis he said Gehlot also claimed that this is for the first time that even after staying in power for three years there is no anti-incumbency against the state government Terming it a great achievement he said it was because of the works done by the government be it the coronavirus management or providing relief to people through welfare schemes The chief minister called upon the party workers to strengthen the party at block level He assured them that a system will be developed under which they will be able to meet him and other ministers He also asked the party workers to pass proposals and resolutions in meetings and forward them to the state government so that their demands could be addressed through budgetary announcements He also lashed out at the BJP and the RSS saying they targeted the Congress high command thinking that it will collapse the party The Congress is a disciplined party and its leaders follow directions of the party high command he said Earlier state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra said party workers and leaders should not run after posts He said a leader is valued when he works for the party and people in his area The three-day training camp will culminate on December 28 Around 350 workers from across the state are participating in the camp at Bada Padampura near here PTI SDA RDK RDK

Jaipur Dec 25 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday once again requested the Centre to allow booster dose of Covid vaccine citing a spurt in infection cases following the emergence of the Omicron variant of the virus In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi he also demanded that people below 18 years of age be also vaccinated The state on Saturday reported one death and 45 fresh cases of which 21 were found infected with the Omicron variant of coronavirus According to a release Gehlot said in view of an increase in Omicron cases experts have expressed the possibility of a third wave in the country The World Health Organisation has also recommended a booster dose because the antibody levels of people who have been vaccinated initially are decreasing he said Cases of Omicron have been reported in 16 states and Union Territories of India In such a situation it is necessary that health workers frontline workers and citizens above 60 years of age who have been given both doses of the vaccine for more than six months be administered booster doses at the earliest he said The chief minister also said even citizens below 18 years of age are in dire need of vaccination The Union government initially made ZyCoV-D vaccine available for them only in seven states which does not include Rajasthan he said Gehlot wrote to the PM that all states have the same requirement so this vaccine should be made available to all of them Earlier in the day sharing an article published in a newspaper Gehlot tweeted The Government of India is again requested to issue guidelines after taking an early decision regarding the booster dose Gehlot said many other states have also demanded that the booster dose of coronavirus be allowed PTI SDA RDK RDK
Jaipur Dec 25 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved a three-year action plan to strengthen farmer producer organisations in the state a release said here on Saturday The state government has earmarked Rs 13775 crore for the plan which will be launched under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Sathi Yojana and aims at strengthening 120 farmer producer organisations FPOs About 96000 progressive farmers will be benefited with this approval the release said The CM had announced to strengthen the FPOs in the state budget earlier this year with a view to increase the income of farmers and livestock owners and ensure overall development Under the scheme cleaning grinding and processing units of agricultural products will be set up so that farmers get fair prices for their produce Priority will be given to cooperative societies in the formation and strengthening of the FPOs the release added PTI SDA RDK RDK
